“Terrible Service at Reception.”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

I'm giving "service" a 2 because the valet guys were great. The front desk was TERRIBLE. Booked Hotel Louisbourg but received no direction to check in at Hotel Acadia. A woman through the intercom kept saying "Ursule, Ursule." Discovered later that she speaks English—so why no directions? A housekeeper was kind enough to bring us to a different hotel to check in. We checked in and they had us sign for room X, but gave us the key to Y. We didn't catch this until we had already settled into Y. We realized there weren't any towels in the room, so we went to the front desk to get some. They seemed totally flummoxed that someone would ask for towels, and made us bring them back to our room despite that we were on our way out. At this price point they need to bring towels to your room for you. We figured out that we were in the wrong room, and the front desk confirmed they had made an error, but then made us move our things from room X to room Y. Room Y was SMALLER, STINKIER, and less convenient. They offered no help moving, and made NO APOLOGY whatsoever. One night free parking at least? NOPE. We made 3-4 trips to the front desk. Not a big deal for two younger people but the front desk is not in the same building or on the same street as the hotel. Accommodations small but fine. Sometimes smelled from old carpets and laundry. Breakfast at Feu Sacre was awful. Undercooked scrambled eggs, watery fruit. Just give me a banana and a boiled egg and be done with it. Also, don't trust the pictures. Our room was no where near as nice.

Part of a small group of hotels in Quebec City (Hotels de Nouvelle France). Hotel Louisbourg is located on rue Saint Louis; a very desirable location in Old Quebec. Check in is in one of their other properties; the Acadia Hotel which is just around the corner. The staff is extremely friendly and will valet park your car and bring baggage to the Louisbourg. Rooms are more than adequate and have everything you need. Who wants to spend a lot of time when in Old Quebec anyway. Given its location and friendly staff I would definitely stay there again.

If you are looking for a hotel in the old city of Quebec, Canada and within the ancient city walls then you should certainly consider the Hotel Louisbourg. On August 20, 2013 we stayed for three nights and were extremely happy with everything concerning our stay. The hotel itself is a 19th century renovated building. I booked the economic room, and it was a small room with a small double bed, which wasn't very comfortable since we are used to a king bed at home. The room appeared recently renovated and was nice and clean. I thought the price was very fair considering the location. I booked through the hotels official website and was very pleased when I emailed them several times and received prompt courteous responses. You check in at the Hotel Acadia, but it is just around the corner from the Louisbourg. There was a friendly helpful lady at the desk in the Louisbourg during the day. The Hotel is locked from the outside and in order to get in you have to have the key. Video cameras and screens are also visible around the hotel, so we felt safe. The breakfast is a full American type buffet and it is located just next door in a restaurant. The food was very good and it was a nice restaurant with good service. It is only 2-3 blocks walk to the landmark La Chateau Frontenac hotel, the promenade, the funicular and the area were all the fun street acts are preformed. All in all it was a delightful stay at the Hotel Louisbourg.

Clean, quiet hotel with friendly, English speaking staff from Acadia Hotel. Good A/C and convenient valet parking, additional breakfast for $10 not included. No refrigerator in our room, though. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was very nice. Upon arrival, you have to check in at Hotel Acadia which is near by. Check in was easy and staff were really nice. The valet parking is also nice because if you are not familiar with the area it is easy to get lost. After checking in, the staff working the valet drove us in front of the hotel which we appreciated. Our room was on the 4th floor and was small but bed was comfortable and room was cozy and clean. The hotel is also fairly quiet for being on a busy street. The location is the best part of this hotel. It is only a short walk to most shops and restaurant. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stress free stay.

Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
- great location
- clean
- friendly service

Cons:
- small room (this did not bother us as we travel a lot in Europe and this is typical of a 'European' hotel in this price range and type of converted building)
- shower water did not keep a consistent temperature (would go hot and cold in the am)

Other notes:
- check-in and parking (for us) at Hotel Acadia around the block. No problem for us, but if you have a bit of heavy luggage or have any mobility issues keep this in mind (the lack of elevator is something to keep in mind if you have issues getting around).
- breakfast is great but get there early! They run out of stuff later in the am (ie. 10am) so get there early.

Conclusion:
We would certainly stay here again. We did not complain about the hot water issue as it was something we figured was not easily fixed during our stay, and this might just be a limitation of the older building. We just wanted clean rooms in a great location and we got what we wanted for the price paid.

Enjoyed a two-night stay here within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Comfortable bed and many nice touches in the room including an umbrella, hair dryer, and wine glasses. Any service we required was friendly and prompt. Hope to return soon!
