“Wonderful Ambiance - Fantastic Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2010

This is a perfect location for your visit to Vieux Quebec. You are inside the walled city and within just 10 to 15 minutes walking time to all that the area has to offer. The ambiance here goes hand in hand with the area you are visiting. Natalie is a warm and gracious host.. The daily breakfast selection included bacon, ham, an egg dish, fruits, cererals, pastries and juice. Yes there are stairs so only carry up what you need for your stay but the view from our room on the top floor was fantastic. You also have access to a nice deck to sit and relax. The room and beds were great. We will definitely stay here again on future trips.

We chose this B&B after reading Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. It has a great location in the centre of the old city and we were able to walk everywhere. Natalie was extremely hospitable and helpful, and provided a delicious breakfast. Our room was comfortable and quiet. We followed others'advice and only took to our room what we needed for our two night' stay. We left our two large suitcases in the boot of our car (we are travelling for several months) after Natalie assured us that there had never been any security problem with the car park, and this proved to be fine. Apart from the ineteresting decor, other helpful features were free internet access, the opportunity to make tea or coffee during the day/evening - much appreciated, and a fridge in our room.

We stayed on the fourth floor - it is a walk-up so lazy Americans beware! Other than that, we loved every bit of our stay. Breakfast was great, there was a pack-n-play set up in the room (with some appropriate toys usually played with by the owners grandkids). Also the futon was made up for our older daughter.

The view from the window and balcony were fantastic. At night, the Hotel Frontenac and the Price Building are lit up and look amazing. When waking up to feed our baby, they gave my wife something special to look at.

The location is very good - an easy walk to St Jeans or the Citadel. There are some steep hills so best be in shape.

One reviewer mentioned mildew and rundown bath - we think it was either renovated or just significantly cleaner as we noted none of those issues. Also, the proprietor, Natalie Brodowski, was always helpful, letting me know where a pharmacy was and ensuring our needs were met.

One note - the wireless internet can be very intermittent but there is a free computer that has excellent service.

All in all, a great stay.

A wonderful Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Old Québec! Friendly, fantastic hostess and delicious breakfasts - varied, homemade and bountiful. Located in a historic 4-storey home - all the rooms were gorgeous - clean and adorned with beautiful antiques and decor. Close to all the attractions and many great restaurants. We can't say enough about the kindness and helpfulness of our hostess. Second time here for one of the family members, and we are definitely planning a return visit!

We have stayed at this B&B 4 times now and always enjoy the experience. The rooms are a bit of a climb, actually more awkward than difficult (with suitcases), without suitcases, there is no problem. We are healthy and strong, so if mobility is a problem, then the stairs would not be enjoyable. We have stayed in four different rooms and enjoyed each one. They are all quite different, the beds are very comfortable, there is always a nice sitting area and we had a nice view from the rooms we had. Although the breakfast choices and format have changed over time, it is always very good. There is plenty of selection: cereal and toast, pates, cheeses, quiches, fruit, tea and coffee. The owner is often around - there were times when we would see her upon our arrival, and other times, we caught up with her during and comings and goings. She is always available by cell phone if needed. She is very friendly. The location is great, just like anything would be within the Old City, I suppose. All in all, we truly enjoy staying at this B&B and have recommended it many times to people. We are going back in a couple of days for another 5-day stay. Linda & Dave J.

We stayed at Natalie’s charming B&B for 3 nights. We took the good advice left by others on Tripadviser and we were very happy with our choice. We elected to minimise the stairs/luggage difficulty by staying on the second floor. Maybe we didn’t get the best view but it was fine. The view from the deck on the higher level is great but as it was winter we didn’t spend time out there. The decor of our room was very nice with Natalie’s personal touches in keeping with the old era. As mentioned by others, the mode of entry is by electronic code through the first door and then collect the key to our room left in an envelope with our name on it. The access can be a bit difficult, manoeuvring cases through the front doors and up stairs but that is how all the buildings of that style are. Coincidentally, Natalie met us at the door and showed us around the dining area. It is in a perfect location for visiting the attractions of the old city. There are a few hills to negotiate but that is old Quebec. Breakfast is ‘help yourself’ with a variety of cereals, fruit, several breads, coffee, tea, eggs, bacon and one day Natalie cooked Panini for us personally. She may return to providing a cooked breakfast menu in the future but we had enough variety to satisfy us. There were plenty of towels etc and the room was warm considering the cold weather outside. Wifi was good. Unlike other reports, we saw Natalie everyday and had delightful chats with her, hearing about her background. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Natalie’s ‘home away from home’ complemented our whole Quebec experience and would recommend it to anyone.
We also recommend the early dinner special at Aux Anciens Canadiens Restaurant http://www.auxancienscanadiens.qc.ca/Homeang.html

We have mixed emotions about this B&B. Upon arrival, what you are supposed to do is leave your car double parked outside with the flashers on (do not pull into a space), jump out of the car, enter the code which they give you when you make your reservation which will unlock the first set of doors. Inside you will find an envelope with your name written on it and your room key inside along with a map to the parking garage. BRING EVERY THING IN AND LEAVE INSIDE THE HOUSE, otherwise you will have to drag it up a very steep hill from the parking garage. Also located in the envelpoe will be a note telling you which room you are in. Fortunatly when we arrived the owner was on her way out and explained to us how to get to the parking garage or we would never have found it. We saw her for less than 3 min. and other than that we only saw her one other time and that was when we were comming in and she was talking to another couple so we did not have any conversation with her. After parking the car and walking back, We gathered our bags from the lobby and proceeded to climb up the three flights of stairs to get to our room. If we had been in poor health or disabled in any way I don't know what we would have done because at this point the owner was gone and to be perfectly honest, if we had known about the three flights of stairs we would have requested another room on a lower floor because after venturing from the lower town to the upper town and then having to climb all those stairs to get ready for dinner get old after three days. Now, the location was great but then again anything within the city walls is a good location. Next the room, great! Very large and the bed was very comfortable. The view from our private balcony was of the Chateau Frontinac. We also had a small kitchen with sink, stove, cofee pot, microwave, and fridge which would have been a grat feature if we had been made aware of it before we arrived. Complamentary tea and or coffe in the room would have been a nice touch. Even though we stayed three nights it was a little too late to get supplies to take advantage of the kitchen. The bathroom was very run down which we didn't mind and it did have a large tub so two people could take a shower without feeling cramped and there were plenty of towels and paper products, soap, shampoo, and a hair dryer were supplied which was a very nice. But, the main issue we had with the bathroom was that it had a soured, mildew odor which was kind of sickening. Breakfast was very basic. There was cofee, hot water for tea, and O.J., some cereals available. The one day my wife decided to have some cereal she opened the box and the bag was empty. The fruit that you recieve is canned peaches and some sliced banana in a dish. There were several kinds of bread that was laid out for you to toast yourself. There were a couple of different types of cheeses available which was nice and each morning there was a type of pastry which was average. There were five different options for a cooked breakfast, four of them were eggs cooked different ways and the fifth was plain crepes with no filling and some maple syrup. You had to write the option number and the table number down on a piece of paper and bring it to the kitchen. The closest thing to service we recieved was the lady in the kitchen doing the cooking would bring us our plate. On our last day we went to the kitchen and paid the cook for our stay because we never did see the owner again. We figure this B&B must just be a cash cow for the owner so why be bothered with the public.
