Owner description: These 275-foot falls on the Montmorency River tower higher than even the legendary Niagara Falls. The 2013 season promises to be exhilarating for people who will visit Parc de la Chute-Montmorency – Montmorency Falls, the second most visited site of the provincial capital after Old Quebec. The highlight of all the new summer activities is certainly the opening of two via ferrata routes built in the Boischatel fault near the waterfalls. Via ferrata – this is italien for “iron roads”, is an activity accessible to everyone over 12 years old that combines hiking and rock climbing. The two paths are built on the rockface on the eastern side of the waterfall. The less adventurous will also be able to get stunning views of the 83-meter high waterfall aboard the cable car which now runs with sparkling new cabins. History buffs will be glad to know that guided tours are now offered each weekend in the company of Sir Frederick Haldimand, who served as Governor of Quebec from 1778 to 1786 and Mathilde Robin, best known as the Lady in White, who lost her fiancé during the Montmorency Battle in 1759. Guided tours are offered in French or English until Labour Day weekend.

An impressive waterfall with twice the height of Niagara. The
view from the bridge above the chutes was great! Also, the
restaurant there (Manoir's Terrace) was excellent.

The falls are 1.5 times higher than Niagara AND you can look at them from a bridge atop the falls. You can take a cable car up and down (we didn't--it costs quite a bit) or you can hike 487 steps up and down (we did!). At the top, there is a playground and a store and ice cream, etc. You pay to park (about $10) and that's your admission for the whole family, so it's reasonable.

I am so glad that we went, we enjoyed the view and the sound of the waterfall. We took the cable car to go up and my children decided to take the stairs to come down. Not far at all from Quebec City and worth the trip.

Wonderful visit to Montmorency Falls. Cable car ride up to the falls level gave some good views. Then, walk along the path and over the falls on a sturdy suspension bridge for amazing views and sounds of thundering water rushing down. You'll never be closer to a huge waterfall. Just beautiful.

For 2-3 hours, you can enjoy this site. No tourist package needed, just hop on the 800 bus (many stops throughout the city) and it takes you there in about 30 minutes.
