“Lovely Staff and Rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2014

This was my first stay in Quebec City and I couldn't have had a better time. The staff was thoroughly accommodating and I witnessed the most amazing grace under fire from the gentleman at concierge/valet desk. I enjoyed the historical nature of the rooms and they were well maintained for the age of the building. The location was amazing, inside the walls of the old city and within walking distance of so many things for my two day stay, I would stay here again.

Excellent location close to the Frontenac within the city walls. Old-style hotel and fittings/decor, but classy. Renovated bathroom. Rooms are fine though on the smaller side. Unfortunately thin walls let all the sounds of the amorous couple next door through. But good value for money when we stayed in the winter and I would stay again.

Room 421: they allowed us to check in early room was smaller than most hotels. Staff was excellent with questions and directions. Once we got into out room our tv did not work, front desk sent someone up immediately. Location is fantastic ate supper at the little pub just down the street ( D'orsay) excellent Fettucini Alfredo!

I can's say enough about the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff at this hotel. The location is excellent if you want to make the old town the centre of your visit. As for the city, don't miss any opportunities to dine out ... every restaurant takes pride in the food and service they provide ... the best restaurants are amazing. If you are looking for history, art and culture ... there is more there than you could absorb in a month. If you are looking for picturesque beauty .. look any direction. If you are looking for night-life ... it runs until 3AM.

Great service from the moment we walked in. Extremely friendly staff that would greet you even in the evenings as you came back to the hotel. Great location for shopping and eating out. Truly an enjoyable stay at Clarendon!

The hotel is in the middle of old town and convenient to everything. We came for the winter carnival, which was only a 10 minute walk away. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. To our surprise, they checked us in early which made it possible for my young daughter to take her afternoon nap (Thank you for that front desk!!!) They upgraded us to a big beautiful, renovated superior room with two, very comfy, queen beds. Everything was clean and worked great. The hotel does shows it's age a little here and there, but nothing to complain about.
I can't say enough about the staff. We had a few out of the ordinary requests for our daughter and everyone we encountered went out of there way to accommodate us.
Our only negative comment is there's only one guy working as valet, concierge and bellman. It just wasn't enough. The poor guy was clearly frustrated and it took a long time to get the car or to ask for directions etc. Certainly nothing to keep me from highly recommending this hotel. It's a winner in my book!

Room Tip: Upgrade to the superior rooms

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are glad you really enjoyed your stay at the Hotel Clarendon. I have transmitted your good words to the employees; it is always nice to have a feedback about it. As for the busy concierge, it is very unfortunate that we were not able to reach you level of expectation. We will be very careful about it in the future in order to improve, thank you! Looking forward to greet you again!

We booked the Clarendon as an adjunct for an apartment rental half a block away for christmas, as a room for two of our (adult) kids.

The hotel is perfectly located for old Quebec, and, for any doubters, in a week stay, we encountered nothing but kindness and helpfulness from every quebecois (sp) we were in contact with, honestly without exception - I know, shocking....who knew...!

The hotel is ok, good lobby area, good bars rooms, ok but not great - in fact, as a destination, for the price point, certainly ok, and as a jump off point for the city, perfect, but a little touristy otherwise (I guess, how could it be otherwise, given the location).

All in all.....ok....sorry, if you can add to this (by the way, at night in winter, the facade, glistening with snow and ice, is majestic), please do!

Thanks

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed the Clarendon. As you say, we are right in the heart of Old Québec, in a walking distance to many attractions such as the Chateau Frontenac, Grande Allée and the Harbour. If you enjoyed winter, make sure to try during other seasons as well, as each has its own charm. We are looking to great you again in the future!
