“Right in the heart of things”

The Jardin Ste-Anne is a small, very old hotel very close to the Chateau Frontenac in the old city. I was attracted by the fact that it has a small garden which contains a hundred-year-old tree. The advantages of it being so close to everything quickly became apparent once I was there.
It is time-worn and it doesn't offer breakfast (though there's a dining area with a microwave and coffee machine), but it's a nice quiet place and my room--the cheapest of them all--was right under the tree and equipped with a wonderful bathtub that I enjoyed immensely. It is contoured to the body (even has a high back and arm rests under the water) and so takes soaking to a new level of pleasure.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Nothing in Quebec City is inexpensive, but this was more inexpensive than most.

Room Tip: The cheapest room is, in my opinion, also the best.

Great value for the money, clean rooms, nice linens, good shower! The stairs are challenging, but that is Quebec! The garden out back is lovely and the common rooms are very nice. There was a microwave, soda machine and table in one room; a reading area with nice couches and chairs, along with a computer you could pay for access. Directly across from the outside front door is a wonderful view through arches of the city.

Don't expect a pool or bar in this hotel. It is for people who want to visit the city, not hang out in their room.

I loved it and will stay here again.

I love this hotel. It's very European in its structure, which is why the doorway is smaller than what Americans are used to. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The hotel staff was very friendly (they are in the hotel lobby next to this one). There's a cute dining room on the first floor and a sitting room. The location is perfect. Located just within the walls of Old Quebec, it's within walking distance to tons of restaurants and shopping areas.

I stayed 3 nights in late May 2013 and was pleased overall with the hotel's small, charming character. The hotel is located in the old town and it is within walking distance of all the attractions and many restaurants/bars. The hotel appears to be in the middle of updates; my room had a new toilet and shower, but an old sink and vanity (there was nothing wrong with the old, but it didn't match the new bathroom fixtures). My room was small with large windows that provided a pleasant view of Quebec.
Check-in was a bit confusing. You have to go to another hotel to check-in (no problem because it is basically next door), but the clerk at the other hotel didn't give great direction. I had a car in Quebec City and needed parking; the desk clerk told me to park in a specific garage. I went to the designated garage, but signs indicated that only certain hotels' guests could park there and Jardin Ste-Anne was not one of them... I had to park elsewhere. It was never clarified if the signage was wrong at the garage or if the desk clerk mis-directed me.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for four days and three nights in late May. While the room was smaller than we expected, it was quaint and worked extremely well for our budget. There were only two issues with the room, which led me to rate this hotel a 4 instead of a 5. One, my boyfriend is 6'3 and he did hit his head a few times on the short door frames; and, two, the bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen in my life. But, the room was cute, the bed was very comfortable, the view was spectacular, and the location was perfect for our vacation in the Old City!! The staff were wonderfully attentive, and even without breakfast included, we would definitely stay at this hotel again!

We went to Quebec to attend the Winter Carnival. The hotel is very centally located to Old Quebec and the Carnival site. Check in was next door- not a problem. The staff we interacted with were charming and helpful. Not a fancy place- comforatable , budget room. Will definitely consider a return.

I stayed here for carnival this past weekend. I was shocked!! my girlfriend had to get on her knees to put the key in the door knob! It was a lipstick job reno! the bathtub was child size. you had to check in next door at the next hotel. the ceiling was leaking onto my friends face in early morning, there was no one there to help you, lots of stairs to climb. it was very expensive for what we got! the location was good but thats it! I think the hilton is more for me!

Room Tip: if you really have to stay here, choose a room on the first level.
