After visiting La Citadelle, I wanted to make my way back towards the old city for lunch and to eventually return to my hotel. I could have gone back the way I came but i wanted to take a little more time, so I walked up past the Plains of Abraham towards the Promenade. It's a nice long walk -- you have areas where you can see the river and surroundings -- and a bunch of steps down. It was not overly crowded and it was just a chance to take a nice walk. At the end you're at Terrasse Dufferin and can walk by the chateau, and make your way around from there.

This Promenade runs from Terrasse Dufferin up past the Govenor's residence to the Citadelle de Quebec and if you can cope with the steps you will be well rewarded with stunning views over the St Lawrence river.

We enjoyed the walks around the promenade - close to Chateau Frontenac and other activities. Wonderful view of the river- a place to take pictures. A go-to place in Quebec City

This easy strolling area always seemed to be busy, making for good people watching and listening to street musicians. The view of the St. Lawrence River is spectacular.
