After reflection with my wife, this was likely our best overall hotel experience of our lives. We travel a fair amount for pleasure as well as for work, and this hotel provided a wonderful experience for three days of 'getting away'. Rooms were wonderful, breakfast was more than expected, and the staff could not have been better.

I've been staying at this hotel since it's opening, but never wrote a review.
Many, many stays later, I realized during my stay this year over Christmas how consistently this hotel delivers. The rooms and decor are sobre and soothing. They have been subtly updated over the years, without changing the character of the hotel. The beds are absolutely amazing. As with other Germain properties (ALT hotels) the staff is very friendly while very polite and professional. The breakfast does not disappoint with a good selection. The lobby is great with the fireplace especially in winter.
Some of the rooms offer great views on the Old Town. The location is great with easy parking and easy access to all Quebec has to offer.

Dear guest,

I am a bit late in answering but I am as grateful as I was the first time I read your comment. This is the most pleasant comment as we all know consistency in quality is always challenging.

A truly sincere thank you,

Sylvie

We had reservations at the Chateau Frontenac, stayed two nights and fled here. Difference is night and day. This place is everything the Frontenac is not. Warm, welcoming, friendly, well appointed spacious rooms. The staff is absolutely amazing. Nothing they don't know/have an answer for, and if by some chance you stump them, they will find the answer in short order. They have a lovely sitting area with a fireplace to sit and read or knit, whatever. They have a bar that's open until 3am and a 24/7 coffee bar. The only thing that may be a tick against is they do not have an onsight restaurant. However, they do offer room services from a restaurant down the street that is excellent. They also have a very nice continental breakfast every morning in the cozy lobby. If you want food you are surrounded by it ( Hello! It's Quebec!) and their outstanding staff will find you whatever your heart desires, any category, any price range any distance. Their concierge, Annie-Karine is the post child of customeer care. I would recommend this place to anyone wishing to stay in a place thats makes you have that sigh of relief the instant you walk in the door like you just got home (but a lot nicer ). It is an extraordinarly relaxing place with a staff that will get you anything at the drop of a hat. It's just outside the wall. Very easy walk to the funicular. Just stay here. Trust me, you will love it. Chateau Frontenac....I understand you're under renovations, but boy, you could use a few lessons in customer service from these folks.

This hotel is fantastic. The parking is right behind the building. Great continental breakfast. Lovely lobby with a huge fireplace. The rooms are roomy and immaculate. Staff is helpful and cheerful. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the St. Lawrence river.

The hotel is located in old Quebec and offers wonderful charm. Our trip was a Christmas stopover traveling to Canada's east coast.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging dinner reservations for us.

The main lobby is very inviting in the cold winter, offering a large wood burning fireplace that is kept stoked for guests to enjoy. You can order a beverage to enjoy by the fire. It is like stepping back in time.

The room is very efficiently laid out and very comfortable.

For us, the thing that will bring us back to the hotel every year now, is their pet friendly policy. But they go above and beyond for your beloved pet. Our room had a bed and blanket, pet dishes, and a bag if treats. Finally, we had arranged for a sitter for our dog, through the hotel. She was so kind and made us feel comfortable enough to enjoy our evening dinner.

We have stayed at a number of different hotels in the Quebec area when traveling at Christmas. From now on, there will be no doubt where we will be staying and I think we may make a trip back without the dog to enjoy the hotel and old Quebec.

Thanks for a great experience.

We picked Quebec City to enjoy the Christmas season in a cold weather environment. We picked the Hotel Germaine Dominion because of the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed on either count. We loved out room and its accessories. The lighting is complicated and dark in some portions of the room, but we adapted to it without hardship. Lobby, breakfast, location are superb. But the best of all was the concierge service. We had not prepared extensively for the trip and depended heavily on the advice from Annie with whom we interacted for most of our 5 night trip. Describe the type of food or activity we sought and she had a recommendation for us. Simply superb but really typical from all of the hotel staff during our stay. Well done - our stay was most enjoyable.
