This is an excellent four star hotel with five star hospitality conveniently located in the lower city of charming old Quebec. Le Germain-Dominion was, I believe, originally an old bank, and it has been stylishly renovated as an elegant hotel, a little too large, perhaps, to be called boutique but still with the feel of a boutique hotel. It is located on the corner of two streets with numerous cafes and shops, and from there it is only short walk to the upper city. The room was comfortable, the bathroom fully up-to-date, and our room on the corner offered both a view of the cobbled street below and the river. A previous reviewer commented on the poor lighting in the rooms. It is true that there weren't options for really lighting the room up, but that was not a problem for me. A continental breakfast is included that was quite satisfactory to my taste. I loved the croissants, coffee, and fresh fruit. What stays with me most, however, is the level of hospitality and genuine service orientation that experienced from every member of the staff.
This also a pet-friendly hotel charging a reasonable supplement for the privilege of bringing Fido along and can connect you with a good pet-sitting service in case you plan to go out on the town and leave him in the room.

We loved this hotel, and the staff was excellent -- friendly and willing to make every effort to see that we had everything we needed. The room was stylish and comfortable. They even had bikes they loaned to us one morning for a ride on the city's extensive bike paths. We stayed another night at another hotel in town with a bigger reputation, but this one was definitely our favorite -- and a much better value!

Dear guests,

I am a biker enthusiast as well and we have a beautiful city. On your next visit, I would love to accompany you if you wish. I may have a few options to propose. May to October is ideal. Alpine skiing for winter months could be fun as well. Feel free.

Out of the 4 hotels we stayed in a2 week trip, this was by far our favourite. The hotel is centrally located and easy enough to find, perfect location for exploring the lower part of the city and there's lots to do here. Converted from old buildings, the hotel has a sense of history and all the benefits of high ceilings, spacious rooms etc. The staff are charming and always very helpful - printed a map for my husband late at night when he realised he had lost his own. They were also willing to provide tips on what's worth a visit. we visited the Montmorency Falls and Isle d'Orleans on their advice and weren't disappointed.
Rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean and have a real boutique feel to them. So quiet at night too, Great breakfast and hot water/tea/coffee available all the time. we simply loved this place and would happily go back. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Lovely, lovely, lovely comment. Thank you.
I don't know if you visited Montreal, Toronto or Calgary for your 2 week trip to Canada but having Le Germain Hotels in those cities as well, our intent is to offer the same level of service with care.
Hoping to welcome you again, or your friends.
Warmest regards,
Sylvie

I stay at the Germain almost every time we come to Québec city. This hotel is perfect for us. This is an hotel for people looking for a nice room, great service and most importantly, confortable beds! The lobby is beautiful and as a great fireplace for relaxing after a long day.

This is a place where staff actually really care about customer service too. One time, i realized that i had forgotten something at home. The front desk did not have want i needed but the person working at the front desk that night started calling other hotels around to find me that thing. Finally, hotel 71, nearby, had it and the front desk person went out and got it for me. That is exceptional service!!! I was impressed.

The only negative point this hotel is that it is really hard to get food late at night. But don't worry, there are plenty of good restaurants around the hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor will get you a better chance to have a view.

Dear Marie-France,
Thank you for your loyalty and sharing your feedbacks.
We recently updated our lobby bar menu so we offer food bites any time of the day. Rillettes, pâtés with croutons, or a local cheese plate may be served in the lobby, terrace or to your room, in addition to the room service menu. Comfortable beds for your body and comfort food for you stomach. Because we care.

My best friend and I stayed here July 15-20. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it could offer us two beds in one room. We were unsure about the location, but the location was perfect. Lots of great restaurants and shops within a block or two of the hotel. Easy walk to Hotel Frontenac. Staff were amazing (especially Annie-Karine, Veronique, and Phillippe)--very attentive and willing to help with reservations, directions, suggestions, anything you need. Nice lobby area with a full bar and service. Breakfast typical european--croissants, yogurt, fruit, cheese. Nice outside area for breakfast. Rooms and BR were a good size with great beds. We had a view of the water which was nice. Do not understand the negative reviews about lighting. I found it to be fine and there are lights directly attached to the headboards and the natural light was also good if you opened the blinds. Hotel has a very chic modern look and all the staff from maids to desk clerks to concierge willing to meet your every need. Would definitely stay here again if we return.

Room Tip: View of the harbor is very nice. We were in 507 and loved the room and view.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a long weekend during our first visit to Quebec City. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the hotel had so many great features - quiet, clean, comfortable room, luxurious bath and toiletries, delicious breakfast and well-equipped gym. The hotel is in the lower city, so we would have breakfast at the hotel, lunch in the upper city and return "home" for dinner near the hotel. Note: our room did not have blackout shades - only blinds - so the room got quite bright very early in the morning, as we were there in June with a 5:00 a.m. sunrise. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side do not get as much morning sun.
