Loved this hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Claude the conciere was great. We had in-room massages together (so rooms are large). Close walk to everything (even in the rain). Best pizza we have ever had was at the Pizzera on the corner, other restaurant recommendations are Cafe Bistro du Cap and Le Diable Andles at 28 Boul Champlain. Beds were very comfortable and daily breakfast was excellent.

My wife and I have just returned from a short stay at Hotel Dominion, chosen because of the excellent reviews here. It was a great experience. It's situation in the lower town is just ideal - a lovely area with exceptional restaurants and so much more peaceful and picturesque than the upper town. There is a very interesting museum a minute's walk away, with an excellent section on the history of Quebec and French Canada in general. The hotel is superb, the staff so welcoming and helpful. You can browse through the menus of the local restaurants in the hotel lobby and the reception staff will book your choice. We went to Epaudé just round the corner and would highly recommend it. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally comfortable, with many lovely touches such as bottles of water chilled in ice. The breakfast, included in the room rate, is a very high quality continental breaakfast taken in comfort in the lovely lobby. The hotel is exceptional value for money - we have often paid much more for much less. This hotel has no features of a chain hotel and offers a very special and enjoyable experience. We wish it was closer to Scotland! (Although I often use hotel reviews this is the first time I have written one - I was just glad I had seen the reviews here before I booked, and wanted to add to them.)

Have just recently stayed in this very upscale hotel. We were given an upgrade, unsolicited, and found ourselves in the largest room the hotel has to offer, #506, at the top on a corner with views over the port and St. Lawrence Seaway. The rooms are very large and the amenties are lovely. It is in an excellent location, a five minute walk from the Petite Champlain area that is full of fun bistros and shopping. I definitely rate this hotel among my favorites and noted on a wall plaque that one of the travel magazines rated it in the top 500 in the world. I would be happy to answer any questions.

Just spent three nights at this cozy, intimate boutique hotel. From it's wonderful decor to it's comfy beds and warm, friendly, very helpful staff, this find is top notch. No spas, pools, restaurants or shops here, but you'll find them within a short walk. Toast, Marie Celeste and Laurie Raphael were gourmet restaurants with delicious and creative presentations. After walking around Upper Town, you can take the funicular ($1.50) or walk to Lower Town and enjoy a free capaccino from the 24-hour lobby machine at the Dominion or use the free internet service that is provided. There is a wonderful museum right next store and the post office is right around the corner. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe walking in the hotel area and all of old town Quebec at any time of the night or day. I would stay again at this marvelous hotel without hesitation. Bravo!

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Dominion. The front desk staff iis friendly and helpful with sightseeing and dining recommendations and reservations. Our room was large with comfortable and stylish furniture and furnishings. I would have liked more lighting, though, in the bathroom. We appreciated the continental buffet breakfast and 24 hr coffee bar. The hotel is located in the Lower City, which has a large variety of shops and restaurants, but only a stone's throw from the Upper City. I preferred the Lower City because it seemed less touristy, though Quebec City is geared for tourists. Had wonderful dinners at Toast! and Panache, and we would highly recommend both (Panache's dining room is a beautiful space). Since Panache is located in Auberge Saint Antoine (it's 2 blocks from Hotel Dominion), we looked around at this hotel. From the public spaces, it looked impressive, especially because of the antiques displayed throughout the hotel and rooms.

The previous reviews are no hype. Very friendly, very professional. We were on the 7th floor with a river view which was fabulous. Breakfast was simple yet high quality. The old building means rooms are not huge but certainly not cramped. Bags of style in the room design and spotlessly clean. Lobby nice and comfortable and a dinky little patio. Only real complaint was that there was no bar.

Location is good - a short walk from The Petit Champlain area which has been superbly restored and for North America, pretty tastefully. Take the Funicular up to the Upper parts of the city and walk down. The best place to photograph theskyline is from the ferry that goes across the river every 15 mins. go early to get the sunlight on the city.

Good food options. The rabbit restaurant (cant remember the name but you cant miss it) on Petit Champlain was low price, good value, excellent quality - as long as you like rabbit. The Marie Clarisse was good food, top prices and truly awful service. Our favorite was L'echaude which is a bistro literally yards from the Hotel. Good food well served in attractive surroundings and well priced. We also had a decent lunch at Le Cochon Dingue.

My wife would have preferred a room more like the Ritz-Carlton.....Antique Furniture, Oriental Carpets and a Nice Bouquet of flowers upon our arrival, etc.
I, on the other hand loved the more modern elegance that this Hotel offered. It was a nice change and it did grow on my wife after the the first couple of days.
The Beds were incredibly comfortable and it was very quiet during our 4 night stay. The Continental Breakfast every morning was much more than Continental it was better than most of the food in the local Restaurants, so take advantage. Thank you Staff of the Hotel Dominion for an enjoyable stay!
