“Very nice hotel--would stay there again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2006

Stayed here over President's Day weekend (US holiday). Loved the fireplace in the lobby and the big cushy chairs. Down comforter on the bed was great. Room was nice and pretty modern, bathroom was funky! Free bottled water. Could open the windows, a plus in a hotel--even when it's zero degrees. Breakfast was included in room rate and was a nice assortment of continental items. Coffee and tea, as well as fresh fruit, was always available in the lobby. Wireless internet in the lobby, as well as a computer to use. Parking is extra $. Location was good, quiet, though next time I might want to stay within the walls of Old Quebec and avoid the steep uphill walk to get to the Frontenac and shopping areas. On the other hand, it was good exercise! Staff was also very helpful, and had menus to look at for restaurants within walking distance. Turn-down service in the evening, and an in-room safe. Overall a good experience and I would recommend this hotel. Side point: trip to the Ice Hotel (30 mins away) was interesting though I would not stay in such a cold room! Tours are ~$12 per person. This is the only place in Quebec where we were treated rudely: if you're preparing for a wedding in the ice chapel, maybe you should inform the tourists the chapel is off limits with a polite sign on the door or as we are PAYING the entrance fee! I was quite appalled how incredibly rude tourists were treated at this place. Oh, and I wouldn't rent cars from Thrifty again if flying in--it's not on site and we almost missed the 30-minute cut-off time for Air Canada check-in when we returned the car. Quebec is beautiful and when I return I plan to go snowmobiling!

My wife and I stayed at Le Germain (run by the same folks) in Toronto and loved the stylish yet unpretentious atmosphere of the hotel. Thus, we chose to stay at Hotel Dominion on our visit to QC and it lived up to (even surpassed) our expectations. The rooms are well designed and spacious (even the Queen) and the employees were awesome - suggesting great restos and bars off the beaten path, and even finding a place for me to replace a flat tire. The lobby has a nice warm fireplace and the breakfast, which is included, was a great spread, with tastey pan au chocolat and for the healthier, granolas and yogurts. The location is also great - just outside the walls, so you get the best of both worlds. Don't miss the Quebec exhibition at the Musse de Civilisation pretty much across the street if you want to learn a lot about the French history of the region (in addition to other temp exhibitions). Overall - just a very cool hotel, and, coming from New York City where the same price buys visitors a closet - not a bad deal either.

We stayed in Hotel Dominion during Thanks Giving Holiday . What a great hotel to stay ! I strongly advise this hotel to anybody planning to go to Quebec
Quebec is a very Europian City and has a lot to enjoy and a lot to do during Winter and during Summer
We will definetly go back to Hotel Dominion for their great service, unbelievable rooms and atmosphere
There is not one thing bad or there is nothing to improve in this hotel . THIS IS THE BEST !
I picked this hotel thru Trip Advisor Reviews and I really appreciate everybody's honest inputs to help us pick this beautiful place
Morning breakfast is a real treat and fireplace in the lobby area is stunning
I also suggest the restaurant called " Toast " in Quebec City

Ahhh...I can still see the fireplace roaring in the lobby-- still taste the cappacinos and daily chocolate croissants -still feel the soft sheets and even softer bed--still hear the happy Bon Jour when we walked through the door--still smell my Aveda bath products on my skin...what a wonderful hotel in a wonderful peaceful city--a treat to your senses. Do yourself a favor--get away for a long weekend-stay at the Dominion and experience a European city without the jetlag and pricetag! Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights over the summer. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the location is prime. Rooms are very comfortable, and clean. There is a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Whats great is that the price here is a bargain compared to the Frontenac. No doubt, I would return to this hotel again. I give it an unqualified thumbs up. Obviously the readers of Conde Nast agree as they rated it the number one hotel in Canada. That might be a little bit of a stretch, but nonetheless, it is an excellent hotel.

Stayed at Hotel Dominion 1912 over Columbus Day Weekend. We stayed there based on trip advisor reviews that we had read. We've stayed in some very nice places though we weren't looking to spend too much on this trip but hoped it was worth it--it was. The hotel was a wonderful experience. The weather wasn't great but the hotel had a very cozy feeling with the fireplace and 24 hour coffee/tea machine (Which my wife and I used often). We stayed in the cheapest room and really liked it. Though our view was of the parking lot, the room itself was very comfortable and well-appointed--like the Bose CD/Radio, the cool lights, really comfy bed, etc. We weren't disappointed in anything. We loved the "continental breakfast" with excellent croissants and jams etc that we could take back to our room (we could also make mulitple trips too). Everyone was very helpful. They showed us many menus to help with dinner selection too. Also really like being able to use the computer with internet hook up in the lobby.

The location was great--near the funicular to take us to Upper Town--and near some really nice restaurants and shopping areas in Lower Town. When we arrived in the dark and rain at 10 p.m. on Friday night we were sent by the front desk to Cafe du Monde nearby--a great and inexpensive Parisian bistro just 5 minute walk away. L'Echaude was really nice for dinner on Saturday--just 3 minutes away. We ate at Aux Anciens Canadienns for Sunday night (Canadian Thanksgiving eve) in Upper Town and really enjoyed it too--though the front desk doesn't recommend it.

All in all, its pricy but very much worth it, especially if you are planning to spend some time in your room for R & R.

Loved this hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Claude the conciere was great. We had in-room massages together (so rooms are large). Close walk to everything (even in the rain). Best pizza we have ever had was at the Pizzera on the corner, other restaurant recommendations are Cafe Bistro du Cap and Le Diable Andles at 28 Boul Champlain. Beds were very comfortable and daily breakfast was excellent.
