“Central-small rooms”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Excellent location-rooms were small - curved rooms !!!- right next to the Theatre, so can be loud when a concert is on there, but finishes early though.

Main complaint was access to your parked car, it was way around the back of the hotel. The valets were always happy to take items to your car but its not easy to use yourself.

Small balcony gets a neat view of the local buildings.

Has free wifi and restaurants all around and easy access to the lovely city.

Room Tip: If you have a car-take everything with you to your room 1st time. Quieter away from the front of h...

I've stayed 2-3 times at Le Capitole in the last 10 years.

The service, location n restaurants are amazing.

Be warned though, if you stay in a room that faces Place d'Youville, you WILL hear EVERYTHING that is going on there

We stayed between the 24-27th of April and have to admit that I was really happy to be able to change rooms on the 26th. The room's view was on the inside courtyard, but my sleep was way more peaceful

You eat very well at both of their restaurants, but you also have plenty of choices on St-Jean streets

Dear Hourray,

Thank you for your comments! It is true that some nights the city can be a bit noisy, but since we are facing Place d'Youville there is a lot of activity in front of the building. Next time you plan to stay at the hotel, do not hesitate to contact us to assist you with your reservation.

Best regards,

I recently stayed at Le Capitole on a business trip and found many quirks (some good, some odd) to the hotel.

Pros.

Very clean rooms. Definitely not an issue.
Service was excellent. Helped me with a difficult situation with grace and patience.
Beds were very comfortable and plush.
Restaurant adjacent (French) was excellent!
Nicely appointment bathroom

Cons.

Rooms are on the small side.
Bathroom doors are like folding closet doors. Not very convenient and those with small kids should take great care as fingers will get pinched.
No writing desk. For business travellers, this is very odd. The sitting chair is awful! Not comfortable and awkward.
Small sink in bathroom. Much like sinks in airplane bathrooms.

I'd recommend it because of the staff and you can rest assured a great night sleep and comfortable surroundings. Another great feature is the location. Walking distance to all sorts of activities. Probably one of the best in town.

Dear elizabeth_pierre,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at l'Hotel du Capitole. I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. As for the dimensions, the age of the building comes into play with our capacity to renovate the hotel. Even though, the rooms are small, the building has a long history that enhances it historical charm.

We have different styles of rooms depending of your needs. I definately recommend you to contact us for your next stay so that we can accomodate you as much as possible.

Great show and Great seats! We saw Veronica Dicaire. She was Great! We were lucky to get seats. It was a sold out show and the Host at the restaurant went out of his way to get us in. We loved it and had a wonderful time. Easy location. We walked there from our hotel. I would recommend this theater

The location of this hotel is wonderful. It is not right in the heart of Old Quebec, but it is extremely convenient to all the excitement on rue Saint-Jean. We took advantage of a sale to upgrade our room and were very glad that we did; I would recommend it.

The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Driving in Old Quebec is unpleasant, so a hotel with a valet is a must.

Room Tip: Consider a room upgrade.

We headed up to Quebec City from Montreal with our son and his girlfriend from N.Y. We love the old city and visiting often, but it was the first time for our son's girlfriend. Best thing about this hotel.....the location. It's ideal for visiting the old city. The valet parking is really helpful great to have as well. Parking yourself around there would be difficult. The hotel is fun and quirky, the front desk staff seem to be bilingual and helpful. Our son had a mezzanine room which they thought was really cute, we had a regular room, and although quite small, had all the amenities. I found the bed unbearably hard, as well as the little couch which was impossible to sit on, but I believe there may be a plan to change the seating. The noise from the AC was very loud and we had to turn it off in order to be able to sleep.Because of the location, it's a good place to stay for one night, but comfort-wise, a longer stay might be a problem. It's back to The Marriott for me!

Room Tip: AC on the 4th floor was very noisy, don't take a room on that floor, don't take a regular ro...

Dear NancyJean, thank you for taking the time to share your experience at L'Hôtel du Capitole. I'm happy to read that you enjoyed your stay as well as the service and the location of the hotel. As you've mentionned, we will eventually have some work done in the rooms. As for the mattress, it needs to be changed right now. I would really appreciate if you could contact me to let me know the room in which you were staying during yor stay and it will be taken care of immediately.
