“Unique in North America”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Canada boasts many of the loveliest cities and sites on the continent, but the upper town in old Quebec has to be the best. Walkable streets, an abundance of shops and a wealth of history make it a prime spot for return visits.

“The Most European Place I've Been Outside of Europe”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

It’s like being in Europe without leaving Canada! Beautiful architecture, historic homes, churches and other structures, but modern amenities, too. I spent about seven or eight hours at various attractions and restaurants in Upper Town over three days and I’ll have to come back again to see the places I missed or didn’t have time to visit properly. I never found it too crowded, but a lot of people were visiting with the terrific summer weather. It’s kind of fun to people watch here, too.

“Wonderful Views”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

If you're in Quebec City, this is a no-brainer. The history and the charm of this place is magnificent. I would have been happy to spend our entire vacation exploring the shops and restaurants in this area. Be sure to walk over to the Dufferin Terrace and check out the view from on top of the hill before taking the funicular (or stairs!) down.

“Take a carriage ride!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Take a horse drawn buggy ride. It took about 40 minutes and the guide was so helpful with his advice and his knowledge of history. Wave and smile back at everyone. This goes by so many historical buildings and wonderful restaurants and the driver is willing to assist you in selecting a few to try. See the Frontenac from every angle. Walk Dufferin Terrace and watch some of the street performers. An information center right in the heart of town. So many museums and churches. Take tours and learn about the history. Way fewer annoying cell phones and less smokers than in past years. The people are wonderful. Stay in one of the historical inns or B & Bs and get an up close look at all the history here.

“Unbelievable architecture”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Place d'Armes and Terrasse Dufferin are dominated by the Chateau. Parliament Hill is also a don't-miss.
