“Veggies and BBQ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

Our experience with this part of the lower town of Vieux Quebec involved the Saturday market at the permanent Marche' de Vieux-Port opened sided building and a barbecue festival. The market was a delight, full of real farm stands with wonderful looking veggies, fruit, and homemade items such as honey and jam. Our only purchase, since we planned to be walking about for awhile, was a delicious glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Proceeding out of the building we saw banners and smelled the distinctive odor of barbecued pork, so we decided it was lunch time. We chose from about 12 BBQ booths and enjoyed our meal while sitting at an outdoor table on a sunny pleasant day. My guess is that there is often something going on in this area, so check it out.

“Not much to see, a little unkept.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Other than the farmer's market, the stroll along the port was a bit of a disapointment. Some of the fountains were dry and the landscaping was overgrown and weedy. There was one functional fountain that was nice, but there was no seating around it. It's like they put in a big budget for the 400th anniversary a few years ago and now had no money to maintain things properly. Very little services for food and drink.

Visually the worst thing was a big ugly temporary metal fence keeps you 10 meters away from several kilometers of waterfront. It looks like it was planned as a pedestrian boardwalk but was cordoned off to accommodate the "security" of cruise ships.

Nice place to bike though, there is a pathway that runs through the area.

“Fresh fish and farm products”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014 via mobile

All kinds of interesting things to buy. Food courts where you can eat the local produce. The small Eco-bus stops here. Short walk from lower town. Not on the top of my list of things to do in Quebec but worth a visit.
