“Quaint and very european”
Reviewed 26 July 2012

Smaller than the upper area but just as unique with old world charm. We found the restaurant staff a bit more aggressive in trying to draw you in. We didnt eat here so cant comment on the food. We took the ride back up instead of walking the steep incline and the $2 cost was well worth it when the temperature was in the 30s!

“Great shops and restaurants”
Reviewed 26 July 2012

Going to lower town is a must. If the stairs are too much take the funicular but you will miss some of the restaurants and shops located on the steps.

“Art walk and Museum”
Reviewed 24 July 2012

Lower town has somewhat fewer restaurants than upper town, but has a similar density of historic buildings. It also has one long street that is packed with arts, crafts, antiques and other shops.

Don't miss the great mural just north of Place Royale, or the Museum of Civilization.

“Where most of the action is”
Reviewed 23 July 2012

This is were most of the action is taking place. Plenty of restaurants and stores. Many of them touristy but a very welcoming feel to the atmosphere. Check out French cuisine down here and pastry shops.

“Be selective in where you shop!”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

Lower Town has beautiful buildings with colorful plants decorating the exteriors and the streets are filled with tourists. My family and I enjoyed walking along the narrow streets. Sadly almost every shop offers the same things and in many of them the employees were rude. We noticed that they watched all of the customers as if they did not trust them. Whenever this happened to us, we walked out and only spent money in the stores where the employees were polite and welcoming.
