“Excellent hotel!”
Reviewed 3 February 2010

This was my second visit to Hotel to Vieux Quebec and this stay was surprisingly better than the last. The hotel has renavated and my room was splendid. The breakfast has changed a little so that you get more pastries with local organic maple butter to spread on ( yum!). The staff are very friendly and great to practise my broken french with. I enjoyed the hotel restaurant - excellent beer and mustard muscles. Parking is across and up the street a bit.

This hotel was a wonderful value in the heart of old Quebec. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a continental breakfast, delivered in a little basket to a hook on the door in the morning. Not a lot of food, but the freshly baked pastry and maple butter more than made up for that. The staff was very friendly and bilingual - for those of us who are a little shy about speaking french this was a welcome feature. We will definitely stay there again, but we would ask for a room on the side away from the main street, as it was a bit noisy in room at the front.

The difficulties with online cancellations, as noted in the bad reviews, have little, if anything to do, with one's stay at this pleasant place. First of all one does not go to Quebec City to stay in a hotel. One goes to Quebec City to get out of bed as soon as possible to walk the streets Old Town and Old Port to enjoy it. This hotel is perfect for one who is so inclined. In the summer a walking tour is offered. There is a quaintness to the rooms. I suppose each room is more of a bed and breakfast than a Super 8. I have stayed here three times and each room was unique. There is also an adjoining restaurant which is a fine place to have a bite and beer as you watch people walk by. And not one of the ambulators bit back! That is the best part of Quebec City; there is not any back biting.

We went last summer to Quebec City, we wanted to see the city and then the Whales.

We stayed in L'hotel du Vieux Quebec. Which happened to me an excellent choice.
Very well located, in the core of the old city.

Breakfast was served in cute little picnic box right in the room.
The room was small , but bathroom was big, so in general was good.

We selected this hotel based on reviews found on Tripadviser, expedia and AAA. It was our first visit to the city. This hotel was within walking distance of everything, staff was very friendly and helpful! Amazing rooms, spotless, flat screen TV, very quiet even tho there were some renovations happening. Great extras for a three star, like nice bathroom with a soaker tub, WiFi, breakfast basket hung on your door everyday, execise room, relaxing lounge with a fireplace and computers

My only complaint is that the parking is not on site, you have 20 minutes to unload your car in front of the hotel, and then go park your car. Parking is very close, about a 2 minute walk but there are a lot of ones ways in the old city and it can be confusing if it is your first visit. Parking is $14 a day.

I would definitely stay here again!! Great hotel in a great city!

This was a great find! Very cute hotel within the walled city of Old Quebec. The hotel itself is in an brick building with a lot of the original stone walls. The location was perfect. The staff were very nice and helpful. The lounge area was nice with a large TV, books, piano, and fireplace. The continental breakfast (delivered to your door) was filled with pastries. jam , and juice. The room (single queen) was small but comfy and the bathroom was well appointed. There was a large flat screen TV, ( you can borrow DVD players and movies) and the free wireless worked very well. The weather was cold when we were there and the room was good for hanging out in.

We have just returned from a week in Quebec City and area and spent the first three nights at this perfectly satisfactory hotel. It far surpassed both a rental condo at Mt Ste Anne and the Chateau Frontenac in comfort, convenience, and value for money. We enjoyed the more than ample breakfast (which, as there was a mini-fridge in the room, could be augmented with more fresh fruit, etc. easily) and found the restaurant in the same building to be a superb value as well (three course table d'hote for about $25.00 per person).
Best of all, the location is perfect for exploring the old city and handy to several car rental agencies in case one wishes to wander further afield. We will return to L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec with pleasure.
