“My 2nd enjoyable stay!”
Reviewed 20 February 2011

This was my second stay here, and will continue to recommend this charming little hotel in Old Quebec. There was local construction going on and hotel was very up front about it when we made reservation (altho was already aware). I do wish I had booked a "superior" room vs "standard" considering the minimal price difference, our room was on the main level which was convenient, but we overlooked the side street-not much to look at. Parking was a couple blocks away, but everything is in walking distance. Great shops and dining all around. Front desk staff so helpful and genuinely friendly. Never saw the housekeeping staff, but they sure do a good job!
Bed is definitely on the firm side, so if you like that, you'll sleep like a baby.

We have stayed at the Clarendon several times but found the rooms to be very cramped so decided to try a different hotel for this year's Winter Carnival. We liked the feedback on this hotel in TripAdvisor so thought we'd give it a try. It's in a good location in the old town, downhill from the Town Hall. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were nice. Bathroom was also spacious and had a very deep bath with shower. Breakfast picnic basket hanging outside the door was a nice touch as was the hot chocolate we were offered one cold afternoon. The resident's lounge is quite large with comfortable chairs and sofas. The filtered water dispenser was also a nice touch. The hotel shares a hallway with the restaurant next door and we had a delicious dinner there one night. Pricewise we felt the Saturday night rate was on the high side but week nights were significantly lower. Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is perfect. The location can't be beat you are steps from everything. The rooms are nice and remodeled. The best part however is the staff. They go out of their way to help you out. They bent over backwards for my wife and infant daughter. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We booked this hotel on the recommendation of friends. What a great find. The staff, especially Piero, was great! Helpful in every way. Friendly, efficient and most accommodating. Location was great, room was clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed the morning basket at the door. Would definitely return to this little gem.

We chose this hotel based upon reviews from Trip Advisor. It lived up to our expectations . We stayed here two nights mid week during the Carnival.
An easy walk from the VIA train station. On a street with many dining options and shops. Short distance from Chateau Frontenac and other sites in the old town. Helpful front desk staff. Room has coffee maker, and small fridge. Highlight was the picnic basket hung on the door knob each morning.... continental breakfast with fresh croissants, yogurt, juice, sweet rolls, etc. Another bonus is the great restaurant attached to the hotel.
We ate there twice.. good food, great service, and a spot to see the locals .
Our only complaint was not the fault of the hotel. There had been a huge snowfall and the city workers used equipment all night long right outside our window to clean the streets.

My sister and I spent a week-long holiday in this city that we love, but this was the first time that we stayed in a hotel that was not a part of a major chain, and what a pleasant surprise! The room was pretty, and clean, and has enough space for the two of us. The complementary breakfast of pastries, jams, juice and fruit, left hanging on the door handle at around 7 AM in a pretty picnic basket, was more than we needed to start the day, but it was so delicious that we ate it anyway.
The staff gets top marks for being always welcoming, helpful, and friendly, and willing to talk to us in French, although I would imagine that it tried their patience sometimes. They didn't show it, though, so that made us much more comfortable. We appreciated their patience so much.

I was happy with my stay in L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec. Staff are friendly and helpful (and bilingual), the facilities are clean and inviting, room was charming (even for the cheapest room) and well-kept, and the value you get for this hotel was pretty good - I have nothing negative to say about this hotel at all (which I guess is the best review you can give an accommodation on TripAdvisor!).

The hotel was comfortable and, unlike other hotels which can feel a bit business-oriented and uninviting, this one felt warm (almost like a lodge) but no doubt the staff and facilities were absolutely professional. For travellers concerned about their carbon footprints, this hotel has won awards for its environmentally-friendly processes and it is evident that they strive to continue in this direction.
