We stayed in room no. 10. Perfect for us. Very spacious and beautifully furnished, with a lovely bathroom. If you're looking for modern amenities, you aren't going to find it here. What you do get is the privilege of staying in a gorgeous historic building in a terrific location. While we were there, the city suffered a pretty brutal heat wave. We were happy to be so centrally located, as our room was always at a comfortable temperature, and we returned many times throughout the day to cool off under our ceiling fan (and A/C). No elevator -- which wasn't a problem at all for us. The $4 breakfast was just OK in my opinion, and the wi-fi was somewhat intermittent. But I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Quebec.

Room Tip: We loved room no. 10 on the second floor. Didn't see any of the others, except we caught a glim...

Found this little gem while wandering around the Vieux Cité. Took the room with the view and was pleasantly surprised to see what a wonderful view it was. It looked directly over the river and the Chateau Frontenac was clearly visible just a block down the street. Will book this hotel from now on whenever I am in Quebec City.

Room Tip: The rooms with balconies overlook the St. Laurence and are perfect for sitting out to enjoy the pass...

allocated half basement bedroom, smelt of damp and was dingy, requested upgrade and given bedroom on first floor, not much better - tiny bathroom, overlooked back yard with broken wall, television control broken, again smelt slightly damp. Had to request breakfast from staff in office!
Stayed one night - one night too long.

Room Tip: avoid half basement bedroom

We had a room with a fantastic view on the Saint-Laurence River, the outdoor parking is very practical because it is very close to the hotel, the room was equipped with a fridge, the hotel is quiet because there is very little traffic around being at the dead end of the streets, from the hotel we used to walk around in the old city streets like Saint-John and Saint-Louis for a promenade or to go to the Lapin Saute on Petit-Champlain for a tasty meal, all this makes this hotel an excellent choice even if the breakfast was very basic and the washroom fan noisy. Strongly recommended to make early reservation.

Room Tip: Take a room with a view on the river.

Aside from Chateau Frontenac and Clarendon Hotel, Vieux Quebec is filled wih smaller 2 and 3 star hotels. We decided to stay at Chateau de la Terrasse Dufferin because mainly because of its location. It is literally next door to Chateau Frontenac which is a sight to behold in the daytime and night. Terrasse Dufferin is literally right outside the hotel. There's also a lovely path (Promenade des Governeurs) that leads to the Citadelle. Parking is next door for a minimal fee. It also has a family size room good for a large size group. We highly recommend Chateau Terrasse Dufferin.

Stayed 2 nights at this 1880's hotel right on the water and 100 feet to the Chateau Frontenac and right next to a park. Our room was priced at $160 was a large room, 2 queen size beds plus a couch and balcony and fridge. It was a delight to sit on the balcony overlooking the river with some wine and cheese we had purchased at one of the local stores.
The staff were excellent and pleasant. I found this to be the best value in an amazing location in the old section of Quebec. I would have been happy with this room were it at the Frontenac but at less than half the Frontenac's prices.

Room Tip: The room on the first floor has recently been redone and includes a patio, quite lovely. The third f...
