“Great location, friendly staff and excellent bargain”
Reviewed 19 August 2010

We stayed 5 nights in queen room. Room was tight even for two but well kept and great view overlooking park/river. Directly next to Frontenac and steps from Citadel. The location cannot be topped for the money. Excellent continental breakfast included in price ($159/night). Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again but it might be worth the extra $30/night for larger room.

We stayed 3 nights in the Hotel Chateau Bellevue in room 021 (lower level). The hotel is in a great location in the Old City, one block from the Citadel and Chateau Frontenac.
The rooms are comfortable yet basic 4 star quality and clean.
The main issue we experienced was with noise from overhead. Room 021 is located directly under the entrance, reception and breakfast/lounge/internet area which has wooden floor-boards. This meant we heard chairs being moved, luggage being pulled around, and the footsteps of every coming and going both day and night. I assume that other rooms didn't experience this (with the possible exception of room 019) as they were not underneath high-traffic areas.
The staff provided adequate customer service and were efficient. The breakfast was included in the price and excellent with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice available to guests at no charge 24 hours a day. Internet service was also provided at no charge.
Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the old at a reasonable in a hotel with lots of character - just be sure to request any room other than room 021!!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Vieux Quebec and although the location of the hotel was fantastic, the rooms were absolutely terrible. We had a double bed and the first room we got smelled really bad, and the toilet was dirty. We asked for a change in room. We got offered an upgrade ($30 more per night) and were told it has a 'balcony view'. This balcony view consisted of flower pots outside our window. We got another double bed room which was about the same but less stuffy/smelly. The toilet didn't work. We had to manually put our hands inside the tank in order to flush because the lever was broken. We didn't find this out until 1 am that night. The bed covers looked like they had been made from a rough curtain material, and there was this beige fleece which was very unappealing to sleep in. Worst experience ever!! For the money they charge per room, you would think they would be able to do some renovations (at least provide a comfortable soft bed! and working ammenities!!). So disappointed. The only good thing was the location...but after this experience, I would rather DRIVE into old quebec than stay here!

We just stayed for 3 nights in this pleasant family-run hotel. The location is fantastic - a couple of blocks away from the main historic streets and riverfront, on a quiet street facing a park. Near to everything yet quiet and in a residential area of homes and small hotels. The staff is very friendly and accommodating - the room was a little small but didn't matter as we weren't there much. Breakfast is continental and there is always coffee and juices out. Breakfast starts at 7 which is great for us early-birds. Parking is $15/day extra but is valet and very good service. You don't really need a car much in the historic part of Quebec and it's just as well to keep it parked as much as possible. We drove also to the Ile D'Orleans about 15 minutes away which is a scenic rural island with farms and small towns - beautiful. All in all I'd recommend this hotel to everyone as a great value, immaculate, and friendly.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for our 25th anniversary. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The location was perfect- walking distance to everything and across the street from a nice little park. The breakfast was simple, but plenty to give us a good start to our day. The only negative to our stay were the number of school groups in Quebec City during our stay. You could not walk anywhere without running into these huge groups of students and their buses.

Hotel was in a great area, a stones throw from the Chateau Frontenac. It faces a lovely park with views of the river. Room was small but clean, front desk really very helpful in every way. Breakfast was typical motel version of buffet breakfast but okay. Near all the sights, the boadwalk, the fincular, the citadel and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again. Get a room facing the park and river, otherwise you face the back parking lot.
