We enjoyed our visit- the location was perfect. But a few words of caution. Our room on the 3rd floor was very small. If I wanted to move around the room, my husband had to sit on the chair. The bathroom was tiny. Barely big enough for one person. There is no air conditioning as it says on the site description. It was very hot when we were there and we had to open the window for air. There were no screens on the window. Our window faced the street and it was very noisy throughout the night. Breakfast was self-serve: basic bread, hard boiled egg, fruit, cheese, meat, cereal. Convenient, but not exciting. If you want info about the Old City, restaurants, etc. you have to go to the Visiter Center as there is very little in the inn. If you are looking for basic, clean accommodations, right in the heart of Old Quebec, this is the place. Just don't stay in one of the tiny rooms facing the street and hope for cool weather.

Bonjour Diana,

Thank you for your review! Chateau de Pierre is an old English-Colonial Mansion about 118 years in the heart of Old Quebec, even our rooms unique, clean, charm...It is true that some of our rooms are not so big like the chain hotels...
But with such pleasure Diana, to be your host, i was able to assistant your check in, and say hello every morning and afternoon....
I am sorry that we had a very special weather during your stay, May 28 was 15°C ( our heating system worked), but May 29, 30 was 26°C, but our rooms have air conditioning when the warm weather coming.
Thank you again, have a great summer!

We just had 4 days in Quebec City and chose this charming hotel due to its reviews on TripAdvisor. It was such a great place to stay in the old town, in a quiet street but close to and views of Chateau Frontenac. A small hotel with the most delightful owners who couldn’t have been more helpful with suggestions on where to go/eat and organising taxis etc. Lovely breakfast included which we enjoyed. Highly recommend

I booked our 2 night stay here based on all the good reviews but we didn’t think it was good at all!! The beds were hard as rock and my husband woke up with sore shoulders because of that!! The bathroom was so tiny, we barely fit into the toilet and shower! We are average size people! The bathroom sink is not in the tiny bathroom but in the bedroom.

The housekeeper, on our first morning there, kept checking to see if we had left our room, so she could clean it. It was 9 am!! She then sat in a chair outside of our room, angrily waiting for us to leave, so she could clean it. We were staying that night, so I don’t understand her rush!!

The hotel staff were pleasant except for when we went to check out. The man tried to charge us for breakfast that we did not eat there, because my husband got a cup of coffee for me on one of the mornings. The breakfast is not included in the hotel price. It is $9 per/person.

Run down looking lobby and room. Pricey for what you get here! We won’t be back to this hotel. It kind of ruined our trip!

Bonjour Amy,

I am sorry to hear your so disappointed review. I was the person who assistant your check in. I gave the breakfast information to your husband $9/person, same time when i make sure the parking was easy for him. Our promotion free breakfast has a condition: reserved directly with us....
To be the owner, i am so pride for our cleaning ladies, they did the beautiful job to keep our hotel so clean 9.2 /10 from 643 guests. I wondering that you may forget to put the "no disturb" card out your door. I am sorry that i couldn't agree with your words "dirty look" or "angrily" for them. Asking our guests if they have parking or take the breakfast as the checkout moment is our checkout procedure... Your King bed room was new updated last winter, new fireplace, furniture, modern shower... unfortunately, so many small hotels in the heart of Old City has the sink or even bathtub inside the room...
I wish you have a great summer!

Min and her staff were friendly, fresh baked croissants, fruit, eggs, yogurt for breakfast. Location was inside the walled city, a short walk to the heart of the old city. Rooms were clean, historic decor with modern bathrooms.

Chateau de Pierre is in a great location. We were in the king room on the first floor and could see the Parc des gouverneurs, the Chateau Frontenac, and the Terrasse Dufferin and river from our window. All were only a couple of minutes away, and the main streets with shopping and restaurants were a five minute walk. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The bathroom was tiny with only the toilet and shower but very modern. The sink was in the room, which worked well. The bed was very comfortable and the linens nice. There was a refrigerator and coffee pot with supplies in the room. Since we had reserved through an internet agency, we paid for breakfast. It was similar to a European breakfast with hard boiled eggs, breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and also croissants from the oven, and worth the added charge. Min and her husband were very nice and helpful. There are times when no one is at the reception desk, but there is a phone and buzzer to contact them. We did not have a car, so we do not know how parking is handled.

Old Quebec City is charming and we feel is best seen by walking, but it is very hilly. We definitely made use of the funicular when returning from the lower city. We hope to return to Quebec City, and we will definitely stay at Chateau de Pierre again.
