“Very nice little hotel in great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2011

This is a charming little hotel, in about the best location you could ask for - at the top of the hill on which Quebec City sits, on a quiet street across from a park, just a 10-minute walk over to the Chateau Frontenac, the Old Town, and most anything else you would want to see. You can leave your car in the parking lot around the corner (an extra $17/night) and forget about it for the rest of your trip. We stayed in the 'chapel room', which used to be a chapel in a previous incarnation of the building, but is now a bedroom with two beds. The beds sit in the raised area where the altar used to be. The room was comfortable, quiet, and fun (we like places with a little local character). Breakfast had everything we like to see in a continental breakfast, including some protein in the form of hard-boiled eggs and yogurt. I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner and staff. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights in July and found this hotel to be very comfortable with excellent customer service. The clerks at the front desk went out of their way to help us find restaurants; I even got itunes installed on my lap top so that we could rent movies! We could walk everywhere which was very convenient. This would probably not be the right hotel for anyone who cannot do stairs as there is no elevator. Also, the air conditioning in our room on the 3rd floor was only fair.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Highly recommended, and when we go back we will most likely stay here again.

Room Tip: You'll do a lot of walking in Quebec, so stay on a lower floor. No elevator.

To start off, the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The location was also great. The hotel is on a steep hill, but pretty much everything in Quebec is on a hill. There are no elevators, but we were expecting that.

The daily breakfast was typical European style, with excellent pastries.

The staff did acknowledge our anniversary with a free bottle of wine, well actually, they removed the $39 price tag from the bottle that was already there. :-)

The room itself was not as nice as we had hoped. It was small, and not nearly as nice as some of those in the pictures, and others we caught glimpses of in the building. The carpet was a deep pile pink carpet, that was clean, but needed a deep cleaning.

We were hoping for a B&B type atmosphere, and almost got it. However, if we ever return, we will try someplace else.

Room Tip: Avoid room 34

We stayed at Le Manoir d'Auteil August 23 - 25, 2011 and were excited to be staying within the walls of old Quebec City. The hotel was located just inside the wall and across from a park. The building itself is old, so creaky wood floors are all part of the charm! We stayed near the reception desk and were concerned that we might hear other people walking around, but were pleasantly surprised that it was very quiet.

All the staff at the hotel were very accommodating, very friendly and helpful in recommending attractions and providing directions. The room was nicely decorated with fairly new, classic furniture, was clean, and the bathroom looked to be updated recently. We had a queen bed which was fairly comfortable; loved the feather pillows. We stayed on the ground floor and did not have any issue with having to bring our luggage up the stairs.

The parking was located within a short walk from the hotel, and was fairly convenient. The hotel provided us with a parking pass (I think about $17/day) and you could come and go as often as you wanted. We ended up staying within the old city for our entire stay, and just walked everywhere.

Breakfast was simple with croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast and cereal. We enjoyed the simplicity of it and not feeling weighed down with a heavy breakfast.

We had selected the "cultural" package and felt that the price was worth it at the time we booked. Part of this package was dinner at Conti Caffe. We were looking forward to it as we had read good reviews, however, when we arrived, we were disappointed to find out that we could only select from the fixed price menu. The meal was ok; if I was to go again, I would rather not be limited to the fixed price menu as the other dishes looked to be more appealing.

As for old Quebec City, it is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed meandering the streets. Make sure to wear good walking shoes; some of the streets are cobblestone and some are steep.

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel to others.

Without exception everyone at Manoir d’Auteuil was absolutely wonderful. Lucia Morelli, Manager, was very helpful with her advice. My room (#8) was very nice, it faced Parliament Buildings and the location of Manoir d’Auteuil could not have been better. This and more made my stay a great experience in Québec City! I highly recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

This is a very pleasant auberge located in old Quebec City, easy walking distance to the sights and restaurants in Vieux Quebec. The room was clean and attractive, although the bathroom was rather small. The décor featured a full brick fireplace and pretty bed covers. The desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The only down side is that there is no elevator. Third floor rooms are a hike and there is no bellman. The air conditioner was efficient and quiet. Be sure to get a park-view room. Parking is in a public garage about a block away, $15 CAD per night. Unload in front of the hotel and then park. We recommend this inn despite a few flaws.
Breaklfast was included in a pleasant downstairs room. Coffee and criossants (especially chocolate) were excellent.

Room Tip: Choose the second floor and park view room.
