Auberge Saint-Antoine
Ranked #5 of 100 Hotels in Quebec City
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 19 August 2011

My son and I stayed at Auberge St Antoine for 6 days in July 2010, and I returned, this past July, along with my wife, son, dtr-in-law and 2 grandchildren for a lovely week in Quebec City. The hotel is everything you might expect at a 5 star hotel, without the 'glitz'. They offer 95 rooms, though you'd never guess it. The atmosphere and service is much more akin to a small, elegant inn. Its location, in the 'Old Port' area, is much preferable to the crowded, 'carny' 'Old Quebec' area. While you're there, be sure to visit the Museum of Civilization, just steps from the St Antoine, and be sure to ask to be given the 'gratis' tour of the hotel and its history. Finally, do not miss the Wed afternoon cocktail party, in the hotel lobby, hosted by the gracious owner and her family.

We spent 3 night in a deluxe room vith a King and sofa ( we have 2 kids 10 and 11)
Beautifull, desugn, every single details makes the Auberge a top class jotel. The view in tge st Lawrence from our balxonny was amazing
Those who like modern furniture ( Starck, Kartell), uncreadible restaurant ( 2 level ,classy barn stiml, outdoir patio) and the most incredible cocktail bar will appreciated. We will come back in the winter

This is an excellent hotel! Very friendly and attentive staff. To our surprise, we were offered an early check-in, which we appreciated, before setting out to explore the Old City. The room was large and very comfortable (we had a "Comfort Room", with a separate closet/dressing area). Well-decorated, with excellent lighting, with dimmers on all fixtures. Large, well-appointed bathroom, with separate toilet stall.

Dinner and breakfast at Panache were outstanding. Excellent, friendly service. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner when you reserve your room, as it is popular with non-guests as well.

The owners have gone to great lengths to highlight the history of the property and have many artifacts displayed, both in public spaces and in individual rooms. There is a very interesting book with detail in each room, in French, but we could figure out much of the history, despite our limited French..

Room Tip: Request a room with a view, if posisble. Ours overlooked an outside dining terrace, thankfully not...

I stayed at the auberge saint-antoine with my family this summer and it was an unbelievable experience.

First we felt very welcome when arriving and the staff was extremely nice and understanding. Our room was wonderful with a beautiful view, the decoration of the hotel is impeccable, it definitely gave my ideas for my own house !! The room was cleaned up almost every time we went out, to go walk around because Quebec is such a nice city, there were also lots of activities sight-seeing and restaurants near the hotel.

We also enjoyed a lot going to the gym and the spa and getting wonderful treatments and the kids loved it as well, especially the restaurant.

The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well, and after we went and enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Everything was definitely worth the affordable price, and the hotel fits very well into the ''Relais and Chateaux''league! We will definitely be back!

My wife and l stayed there for one night on August 11 and were assigned a standard queen size room facing the river. The parking attendent waiting to welcome us and parked our car. The front desk clerk was efficient and friendly. The concierge booked us for dinner at Le St-Amour rapidly and confirmed by phone to our room.
The room was well decorated, modern, clean and was of decent size. It reminded me of the Sofitel style. The bed was confortable. My wife appreciated the coach for reading and looking at the river.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Auberge Saint-Antoine (I'll call it the ASA for short). During our stay, we experienced two different rooms -- one a standard "classic" and the other the "captain's suite." Both were fantastic, in very different ways. The classic was very sophisticated, lovely with a beautiful bathroom and had a very European/Parisian feel. The Captain's Suite was funky, and huge, with loads of drawer/closet space and very comfortable for the 5 of us. The service at the ASA is top-notch. Everyone was polished, yet warm and friendly at the same time. The common areas are lovely. The location is THE best, on a quiet road right in the heart of the most beautiful section of Old Quebec. Directly across from the main history museum. Near lots of wonderful restaurants. For archaeology buffs (which we are), the ASA has done a wonderful job displaying artifacts that were found on its very premises throughout the ASA, as well as displaying the original city walls in the basement that lie under the ASA. There is a display on the wall (when you first walk in) that shows how the premises was right at the water's edge in the 1600's, and then shows the expansion of the the city into the river over the next few centuries. It is worth looking at even if you are not staying there.

They have a really beautiful screening room, and let us 5 watch a kids movie in the room. We had the whole place to ourselves. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food A+. Bottom line ... it's a magical experience (hence my title). You will love it.
