Wonderful hotel in superb location

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Oct 2019via mobile
Charming hotel right in the heart of the Old Town (lower level) of Quebec City. On the harbour front, a few metres walk from Place Royale and the Quartier Petit Champlain. The hotel serves great food in the restaurant and bar but there are lots of interesting restaurants and cafes in the area too. A steep walk up the hill to the upper level or the funicular railway is nearby for a more gentle ascent. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable with a large bathroom. Throughout the hotel there are lots of artefacts on display, in glass boxes, giving hints of the area's history. A stylish hotel and a wonderful place to stay. An example of their beautiful Halloween decorations is shown in the photo.

Really nice experience .The room , the location and the service was excellent. There is confusion between the Sunday brunch vs breakfast (same room mixed tables) but the food is very good. Worth the freight

Loved everything about this hotel. Location, breakfast, bar, spa and fireplace. Loved our room as well. Immaculate with small deck and multiple windows. Will definitely be back. We had great weather as well. Also, enjoyed the hop on hop off to get lay of the land and we did historical walking tour and food tour. Had a blast

This hotel is excellent. Nice people, great rooms. We were booked on the QM2 and it is a very easy walk (w/baggage) from the hotel to the ship. The restaurant is excellent, but books up quick; the lounge/bar in the lobby is also good. The included breakfast was first class. Super great staff.

This hotel, although busy during the fall foliage season, did not lose its charm or first rate service. The food was very good for breakfast and dinner. The public spaces are attractive and well maintained. We had large river view suite which nicely decorated in a cleans style with a spacious bathroom. The only issue with the river view was that October is bustling with cruise ships so that your view is mostly of the ships not the river.

The concierge desk was helpful with directions and suggestions. The hotel is right in old town which is convenient and makes it easy to pick less crowded times to tour.

We stayed at the St Antoine two years ago and liked it enough to return for two nights this year. As I said first time round, this is not your average Relais & Chateaux hotel – less formal, more fun, and a great central location, particularly if you are embarking or disembarking from a cruise liner. However, since my last visit the St Antoine have added an extension and we stayed in one of the new rooms which was so badly designed that the architect or interior decorator ought to be made to stay in it for a week. If we been staying for longer than a couple of nights, I would have asked to be moved into the old part of the hotel which I much preferred. I suggest you look into this when you book. However, the breakfasts are still one of the many great features of this friendly family hotel and we will certainly be back.

Room tip: I prefer a room or suite in the original hotel, not the new wing.

Dear theoldwhalinghouse,

Thank you for your words and for taking the time to share it on TripAdvisor!

We are glad that you had a great stay in our Relais & Chateaux property and that you still enjoyed the breakfast. We provide guests with an authentic hotel experience combining history and modernity this is the reason why we have different types of rooms.

We look forward to seeing you back!
