“Excellent experience, but keep in mind we saw a fantastic music act that night!”
Reviewed 16 October 2011

My husband and I went to Babylone Cafe on a trip for our tenth anniversary. It's sometimes tricky to find good veggie-friendly places in QC, but this one was great - I had an incredible mushroom ravioli, and it came with a tasty salad on the side ($14). The ambience was lovely - it's relatively small, but full of life with warm colours and vivid paintings all around.
Another nice thing is that this place does live music every Friday and Saturday night (we saw Gypsophilia Halifax, who was fantastic!). That's why I want to stress that we had an absolutely wonderful time, but it our experience was certainly enhanced greatly by the musicians who happened to be there that night. (Note that you may have to pay extra to watch the act depending on who it is.)
I'd recommend making a reservation if you're going after 8, since it got kind of busy. The service was not the greatest, however. The server was busy and slightly rude (not in an overt way, just in the way of forgetting about you because he's too busy, but then not really being apologetic about it, either). But overall it was a great night, perfect for celebrating our anniversary!

“Euro cafe in Canada's most Euro city”
Reviewed 14 September 2011

After struggling with the language barrier for 10 minutes, a local shopkeeper recommended Babylone for a vegetarian breakfast/lunch.

The coffee was good and strong, the veggie omelets and potatoes PERFECTLY done and of course, fresh baguette slathered in butter couldn't make for a better meal before heading out to sight see for the day.

This is in somewhat of a residential area but a very short walk from our hotel on the outside of the city walls (BEST WESTERN PLUS Centre-Ville) and we enjoyed browsing in the shops and markets along the way.

Cool ambiance, very laid-back, and great food to boot. A true gem!
