“Wonderful hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2009

We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I couldn't have stayed in a better place. I was so pleased with the decor, cleanliness and perfect location. Paul was very helpful in guiding us when asked for directions. It's a beautiful hotel and made this a romantic experience. We were disappointed with the breakfast, tho. When we went down for the 1st morning, we were greeted nicely. But after we were seated, noone explained what we were suppose to do. By looking at the menu, it looked as tho we were suppose to make selections. When the waitress arrived she didn't explain anything and when I told her what I'd like she said they were out of everything, only leaving us the choice of ham/eggs & toast and french toast. My husband had the ham & eggs. The ham was a very thin slice(looked like it was from a can)We got there at 9:30. The breakfast was marginal. The bread looked like a waffle dipped in french toast batter. The crust was hard and I couldn't even cut it with a knife. When we were done, noone wished us a good day etc. We just left...Needless to say the next 2 mornings we paid and went to a local restaurant with great selections and awesome food. So, other than the breakfast, great hotel and I would always go back to hotel LeClos St Louis.

This hotel offers warmth, charm and beautiful accomodations. The service is impeccable and the ambience delightful. The location is perfect for touring the city. The rooms are well appointed - actuallly over the top! The lovely breakfast room is so relaxing - eating freshly made food listening to Edith Piaf in the background. The staff are helpful and welcoming. I give it 5 stars!!!

Stayed here in August, and loved every minute. True, there is no help getting your bags from the car to the lobby, but once inside they assisted us to our room. Room was filled with Victorian era antiques. Bed very comfortable. Asked concierge for the name of a good French restaurant, and he made us a reservation at a fantastic quiet restaurant.

I have read other reviews which did not care for the breakfast service, one even stating the eggs were powdered. They must be from years past. I had eggs over easy one day, scrambled eggs another, and they were real eggs and properly prepared.

Everyone, from the desk personnel to the ladies making and serving breakfast were polite, smiling and pleasant. I cannot wait to go back.

Perfect location within the old city, within walking distance to all sights. Super breakfast in the morning from 8-10. Excellent staff. Parking on site for CAD 15. We enjoyed the Citadel tour and changing of guard at 10am each day. Also liked touring the old city, the Museum of Fine Arts, Joan of Arc Park, the boardwalk, and Ste. Anne Cathedral and Canyon. The drive up to Lac St. Jean was excellent and scenic.

My Wife and I and another couple stayed at the Clos in August. We stayed in rooms 1 and 4 on the first floor. We enjoy small hotels, and B&B's and picked the Clos for that reason. Madam Donais and her staff were teriffic. The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated in a very classical European style. Breakfast was wonderful - fresh waffles, eggs, plenty of accessories. The breakfast room was small, but very intimate and nicely decorated - we really enjoyed it. The location was wonderful - right in the middle of everything. Utilize the parking provided by the hotel is well worth the price. The restaurants recommended by the staff were wonderful. Do not miss the Parliment
Building Tour.

The hotel was very well located, clean and staff friendly.
I would recommend it but the stairs are very very steep and many of them so if you don't want stairs stay on the lower level.
The view higher is great.
It is a must see hotel and we had the honeymoon package. Excellent.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff of the Hotel le Clos Saint-Louis for a true home-away-from-home stay in Quebec City. Theirs is a beautiful and beautifully located establishment, and the service we experienced over our week-long visit was impeccable. The accommodations are elegant (with great water pressure!) and the breakfasts delicious. I'm still in withdrawal over the french toast. The off-street parking was a bonus on the days when we rented a car, and their proximity to some of Quebecs best restaurants (only a block or two away) made all the difference on the evenings when we were to tired to venture far. Can't think of how to improve on this hotel. Madame and her staff have been many years in the business and it shows. Our heartfelt thanks to all. Peggy H, Atlanta, GA
