“Would definitely go back any day”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

If you're looking for homey coziness, this is definitely the place to go. Gîte au Croissant de Lune was a lovely B&B recently acquired by Patricia, who runs the place. The atmosphere of the place is really lovely and the dining area is really lovely (the picture of the room with a wall full of books has been changed into a picturesque dining room).

For breakfast, Patricia prepares delicious 2-dish breakfasts usually with a healthy yogurt dish then a carb-based dish (pancakes/bagels/creps) accompanied by delicious juice with herbs and of course, french press coffee. The presentation of the food is excellent as is the taste. Amongst the food I had in Old Quebec City, I think I miss Patricia's home made breakfasts the most.

Initially, I was concerned about the shared bath, but there is a small toilet and a big bathroom shared amongst three rooms. I didn't have any difficulty taking a shower when I wished to. It was convenient and clean.

Distance wise it's about a 10minute walk to the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. The walk never bothered me. It was always a pleasant walk.

Plus, on days when your feet are tired to go back near the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac you'll find plenty of places to spend time around the B&B. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes on St. Jean street in front of the B&B from homemade icecream, chocolate, oldest supermarket in North America, cafes and bars.

I'd go back any day :)

Lovely, friendly hosts who welcomed both us and our four month old baby. The breakfasts were excellent with two choices each morning. We had to switch rooms as we decided to extend our stay. Both were clean and beautifully furnished but the attic room was our favourite and possessed a certain charm with combination of angles and antique furniture. Climbing the extra set of stairs was definitely worth it! Highly recommended!

We stayed 5 nights around Christmas at this lovely B&B. The hosts Louise and Rene are very helpful and gives us useful information about the charming city. They pointed us to special sights and good restaurants/bakeries. They have a large collection of books, and Rene shared his reading experience of Taiwanese authors with us. We were surprised at how many books he has read. It's like staying at a friend's place, while having a lot of our own space. Everyday we have a choice from two different kinds of breakfasts. There are variations from day to day too, and all dishes are delicious. We were looking forward to the breakfast every morning! The room is very comfortable and the spacious shared bathroom is kept very clean everyday. The location is great too. It's close to the old Quebec and located almost right next to the Rue St. Jean. This part of city outside the wall is worth a visit, too. We will stay here again if we visit Quebec City again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 night for New Years's Eve. Git Au Croissant de Lune has such a charm about it. It has this old feel to it. The breakfast room is surrounded with books and collectibles. Our room was comfortable and very clean. The room has a shared bathroom, which is not a problem at all. It also has a powder room next to the main bathroom with an extra sink and toliet. The windows in the room remind me of France. You can look out and see the houses around and the snowfall.

The breakfast was good. You get fresh fruit and a choice of eggs, crepes or yogurt.

Rene and Louise were great hosts and very helpful with anything you need to know about Quebec. The location was great. The B&B was tucked away on a cute side street right off one of the main streets(Rue Saint Jean) that takes you directly to Old Town. We were walking distance to everything!

Even though there is not permanent parking, we found parking right outside everyday.

This place is highly recommended!

We spent 3 nights around Christmas at this lovely little B&B tucked away on a side street. Well appointed cozy rooms, a tea and cocoa station, fridge for guest use, and the library/breakfast room for reading (or bringing in lunch/dinner) made for a very livable stay. The B&B is very convienent to Old Town, Grand Allee, and the shopping/eating on Rue Saint Jean.

Despite proximity all the rooms are pretty quiet (except occasional municipal trash or snow removal).

Shared bath, so you might want to bring a bathrobe (although the bathroom is plenty big for changing); the extra half-bath prevents issues with crowding in the morning and evening (even with all 3 rooms filled).

Rene and Louise are lovely hosts; very helpful and welcoming. Good (always changing) breakfast options that are filling but no so over-the-top that you don't have room to eat your way around Quebec! :)

Room Tip: Suite has low ceiling and steep stairs, but is a fun little getaway.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 most lovely nights with Louise and Rene. They are so gracious and friendly. The location of the B&B could simply not have been better for us. Minutes walk to so many fun places. And very quiet. Louise is a master of breakfast. What a treat. Yes, we have a choice for breakfast and it is not easy. Everything "on the menu" is delicious!!! And substantial enough to be called lunch as well:) Rene, a former tour guide, can help you with anything you want to know about this famous city. And if Rene is not there, Louise is a great back-up. As in most B&Bs, Louise and Rene have their own unique decore and collections that make for great conversation. Beautiful sea glass, an amazing library, memorabalia of a time in China, beautiful furniture and many lovely antiques. I am looking forward to my next time with Louise and Rene.

Room Tip: If you are not the best on stairs, perhaps not the bed "upstairs" in the green room. Howe...

This B&B has THE best breakfasts and the location could not be better. It is not on a main street so the immediate area is residential and very quiet. It is close to Rue St Jean, and only 5 min. walk away is Rue Grand Allee. I chose this B&B specifically for its proximity to the Convention Centre. I recommend a taxi from the train station to this place, because it's quite a distance and hilly.
Nearby on St Jean are restaurants that serve Moroccan, Japanese, and pub food. They are open fairly late on most days, until 11 p.m. or later.
The owners of Au Croissant are extremely kind! They are bilingual. The washrooms are shared, but are extremely clean. The rooms have huge comfortable beds and are quiet as long as your neighbours are quiet (mine were). I hope to return again; the value for this accomodation was fantastic!
