Over the Columbus Day weekend, my fiancee and I stayed at the beautiful Maison du Fort. Historic, enchanting and immaculate are a rare combination for a Bed & Breakfast. Owner Marielle Roy seems to have the recipe perfected. We stayed in room #10 and loved it. Even the lighting was conducive to romance. And in the morning a musical "Bonjour"greeted us as we enjoyed some of the best scones & coffee this side of Paris. In the magic that is Old Quebec,Maison du Fort shines.

My fiance and I stayed in Maison du Fort for three nights in September, and loved it. We loved the location - close to the Citadel which is great for an afternoon picnic. The room was very - but not overly - quaint. The people were so nice and friendly. We would stay there again, and we have already recommended it to our friends.

We visited Quebec City over the Columbus Day weekend, which was Canadian Thanksgiving, and had a wonderful stay at Maison du Fort. The location is perfect, just steps to incredible restaurants like the Continental & Cafe Conti, also very close to the Frontenac but tucked away enough so that the street is quiet & peaceful. When you step out the door you can see the river and a beautiful park just a block down the street. We arrived late but received a warm welcome from the charismatic & motherly hostess. The muffins, breads & fruit each morning were delicious, and we also got some really helpful suggestions from our hostess for daytrips. My boyfriend & I stayed in room #5, which was absolutely lovely, and our friend had #9 just up the stairs, which has a tub..she was very happy with her room as well! This hotel deserves all the praise it has gotten on the site... it's truly attractive, a really nice home away from home. We will definitely stay here again.

I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a cozy, clean and romantic stay. The staff is very friendly as are the cats!!
Right in the heart of Old Quebec, this home built in 1850 really sets the mood for what will definetly be a beautiful and romantic getaway from the crazy day to day life that we all lead. Charles will help you out as soon as you arrive and be sure to go to the Vodoo Grill for some of the best steak you will ever taste!!!

My husband and I simply loved Quebec City and no small part of this was due to our stay at Maison du Fort. Mme Roy is a charming hostess and was helpful with all our requests, especially very good driving directions getting back to our home in Connecticut!

We stayed in Room 6, which was large, comfortable and simply beautiful, with a view of the St. Lawrence River from one of our windows facing the Dufferin Terrace. There is an album in the breakfast room that shows the inn in various stages of renovation. Quite an accomplishment and Mme. Roy is quite the decorator. Victorian but not at all frilly or over the top. Just lovely, really, and so clean and fresh. The rooms and hallways are decorated in cat-motif and much of Mme Roy's own needlework. So pretty!

The Chateau Frontenac is very close by and we were within easy walking distance of everything in both the upper and lower sections of the old town, including the funicular that connects the two. Mme Roy gave us good directions to nearby parking where we left our car in complete safety for two days. I would love to stay here again, perhaps during winter carnival, tho'my husband, a lighter sleeper than I, would recommend a room at the back of the house to avoid the sounds of traffic in the night. (Not a lot of traffic, but the narrow streets and all the stone buildings seem to create an echo chamber.)

Mme Roy is a lovely baker and the light breakfast every morning was complete with her freshly homemade muffins, cakes and cookies, good coffee, fresh fruit and juice. The aroma of fresh-baked zucchini bread filled the halls during the first day of our stay!

We happen to be cat lovers and the two resident felines, tho' not at all intrusive, helped make our stay very, very pleasant. I have no hesitation recommending the Maison du Fort to anyone planning to visit Quebec City! It is simply delightful in every way.

My husband and I and another couple stayed at the Maison du Fort for four days and absolutely loved it. The hostess was the sweetest person--so friendly, and helpful with directions and ideas for things do do while in town, but not in the least bit intrusive. The pastries prepared every morning were delicious, and she even let us bring our coffee cups and breakfast outside for a walk up to the park where we could sit and enjoy the nice weather. The rooms were sparkling clean, nicely decorated and the whole inn had an overall comfortable and home-like feel to it that you don't get much anymore, even in a nice b&b. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Quebec City.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Maison du Fort for four nights in July. We had read many great reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not dissapointed, it was exactly what we expected. We stayed in room 5, the room was beautiful, nicely furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was large, and I loved the bathroom sink!

Quebec City was extremely hot while we were there, an unusual heat wave. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, but they did provide a fan. We slept with it by our bed and that helped.

I can't say enough about the location, so close to everything in the upper city, it was great. You're right on the edge of the Plains of Abraham. We felt that it was just the perfect location, it was quiet, but just minutes away to everything.

The breakfast in the morning was very quaint, nothing too filling, and if you don't like sweets, then you may not be a fan. There were usually different types of pastries, etc. but it would keep us full until lunch time.

Overall, the hotel was great, the people were friendly, the room was very comfortable, and we would stay there again. Great charm and great location.
