If you're looking for a home away from home, then La Chapeliere is the place for you. This amazingly restored house provides a welcome respite from each day's exciting outing in Quebec City. The list of the amazing features to this stunning B&B could go on and on: hot tub on the roof deck overlooking the breath-taking St. Lawrence seaway, breakfasts cooked by your host (Claude) that are fit for royalty, short walks to restaurants/pool/stores/old town, the up-to-date kitchen that you can use during your stay, etc. etc. etc.

Finally, there's Claude - your host. He is one of the most charming, entertaining, and informative people you will meet in all of Quebec (and that's saying something!). Claude took such amazing care of my family while we were at La Chapeliere that we were overwhelmed by his generosity. We will return one day to Quebec and we will definitely be staying at La Chapeliere - and one of the main reasons we'll do so is to be able to hang out with Claude some more.

Maison La Chapeliere is a wonderfully restored home with modern appliances. The best part of our stay was Claude. He was a wonderful host and made you feel that you are part of his family. He served gourmet breakfasts and recommended activities. He had the ability to relate incredibly well with our teens as well as grandparents.

The bedrooms provided privacy and separate baths for our extended family. This home exemplifies that the kitchen is the heart of the home. He remodeled to keep the character of the home. It was fun having the grill and hot tub on the rooftop. He saw to every detail a traveler could wish for.

A stay at Maison La Chapelier is the perfect enhancement to the experience that is Quebec City. Located in a residential neighborhood along the St. Lawrence, this B & B is a meticulously restored 18th century hat shop with easy walking access to the lower city and the river walking path. We've been coming here for several years and it feels like home every time. Host Claude Sanschagrin is a beautiful soul and a wonderful cook and local authority who knows and loves his city, as you will after staying here. Oh, by the way there's a hot tub on the roof!

Enjoyed this B&B very much with 5 other family members. The breakfast was a new treat every morning. The location was excellent - walking distance from Old Town, Plains of Abraham, and tourist sites, also very close to a recreational trail. The owner provided helpful suggestions. Lovely decor.

How can one say that something is superb without it sounding trite these days? But that's the plain truth, the Maison la Chapeliere is superb, and all of the credit goes to Claude Sanschagrin - who certainly lives up to his name! He took an old hat shop, and turned it into the nicest B&B that I've stayed in - and that's quite a few. The Maison la Chapeliere is located under the Citadel, equidistant between the stairs up to the Plains of Abraham, and the shops of the old city beneath the wall with it's funicular to the top. Either way, you can walk to everything in Quebec City, sightsee, bring back the groceries, and recount the day over the meal you prepared with your friends. There were six of us, and we fit nicely into the lovely old hat shop. There's also a rooftop terrace, looking out over the St Lawrence, for that goodnight glass of wine under the stars. Then for the best part, Claude comes jauntily up the stairs the next morning with a bag of groceries, and proceeds to amaze us with the elegant breakfast he prepares. For a peek at his repertoire, go to: <http://www.flickr.com/photos/24513998@N07/sets/72157634118177068/>. He is a most gracious and charming host. Thank you, Claude.
