Description: By definition, La Planque is a stash. It's a hidden place, warm. This is the kind of place where you can take shelter. Safe from what? Safe from our Quebec storms, away from our routines, out of our worries ... away from what you want, in fact. We put the Planque up to put in a safe place what held us most at heart: quality food, good wine, tasty beer and music that makes us smile. Our greatest wish? Share it all with you, because after all, that's when La Planque is filled that it really comes to life. Come stash you: the door is open!

“A must go to!”
Reviewed 13 November 2013 via mobile

I will definitely add La Planque to my will return places list.
Although the menu is not exhaustive it has a dish for everyone. We were a group (14) of frequent travellers from different cities that gathered together for dinner and we had everything on the menu. The verdict was unanimous, we loved everything!
I tasted 5 different dishes and was impressed with each one.
The service was not the fanciest very efficient, the servers knew the menu very well, were able to present it and discuss the options with professionalism. The wine list is respectable and interesting, they carry some larger size bottles that accommodate groups and we were advised quite professionally on our choices.
The kitchen is opened so you can see the group of young chefs at work and see how they assemble the great food you are about to enjoy

In resume: a young group of professionals that cooked and served a wonderful dining experience.

“Unfortunately below expectations”
Reviewed 21 August 2013 via mobile

Not that it was so bad and maybe it's an isolated case, but although the food was good some important points left me a bit short on my expectations. I live in Québec city and tried many of the best places in town.
On the food side my appetizer (egg) was very good, yet felt a bit overpriced. Main course (pork) was... well I'm not sure :) The sauce was very good, so was general seasonings. Part of the meat was very good but portion was a bit small, and 2/4 pieces were just not good. Chewy and poorly prepared.
The wine and service is probably the reason I decided to review. We ordered an 85$ wine on some waiter's recommendation. Most of of hated it. We felt bad but decided to gently let the waiter know. At that point, and maybe my expectations are wrong, but I would have expected excuses and a replacement by another wine. Rather than that he spent 5 minutes trying to convince us that it was good and to continue with the food that we would appreciate. Getting it wrong on a choice is fine with me, but insisting like this isn't. At least, if you let us drink it, I would expect an important discount on the wine that he chose.
Just to add to this, they splitted the wine in 6, including my wife that did not drink anything since she's pregnant. It's enough to have to watch others drink in your face all night without having to pay for it. This may be small details but that's sums up into a not so good experience.
Is it bad luck?... maybe part of it is but it was still a bit underwhelming.

“excellent food”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

hidden in a strip mall this excellent restuarant is off the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there. The food was creative, well thought out and nicely presented. Great recommendations on the food, very helpful staff and fine ambiance. It was a fine night.

“HIdden foodie spot”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

If you are looking for a hip spot with great music, great food and fun crowd, this is the place. This spot is in a hidden neighborhood outside of the city. It is best to drive if you have a car as cabs in QC are expensive but either way it is worth the trip. Our reservation was for seats at the bar. When we arrived and had to wait a few minutes so we were greeted with 2 glasses of Chablis. This is definitely a local spot. Our waiter had not spoken English for 2 years. Our French is not great so he found another waiter who explained the menu to us. One tip, the English version is on line so if your French is weak, good to review the menu first. We ordered a bottle of wine and were offered an alternative not on the list which was exceptional and for the same value. Then the food...The tuna appetizer with watermelon was one of the best tasting dishes we have had in a long time. The hen's egg was remarkable but the meal of the night was the Pintade. It was so moist and the sauce outstanding. It reminded us of a meal we had in Paris. AS others reviewers mentioned, this place is loud but it makes for a fun night in a lively fun atmosphere. The music mix was eclectic but so much fun.

“#1 local/hidden spot in Qc City for high end gastronomy!”
Reviewed 28 May 2013 via mobile

1rst, if you're from out of town, know that Limoilou (LaPlanque location) is just a very short cab drive away from Old Qc... you could even walk there (30min).

2nd, although the overall atmosphere is great, expect to have your full focus redirected on the food as soon as you take your first bite. The high level of amazing taste/aroma/flavor will throw you away & make you wonder how they were able to reach that level of taste.

3rd, atmosphere is relax; trendy casual will do.
