My wife and I spent such a great moment in that city. We celebrated our 8th years as a couple. Thanks to the personel for providing us with the best service ever. 10/10, AAA, 5 stars, name it the deserve every title. The concierge recommands to us a lovely italian restaurant (Matto) and we finish the evening with a bottle of champagne and so and so...
Thanks to the 71

I knew that the city was pretty but what but a good felling when I first enter in the lobby of the Hotel 71! It seem that all the team was there to welcome us. We reserved a classic room but it was a lot more than Classic. The bed was so confortable . The view on the Saint-Laurence River was very relaxing. The hotel is very well located in the Old Port of Quebec close to all the activities. Thank you for the great experience. We will definitly come back at this hotel.

This seems to be no more than a few rooms for rent in what is essentially an office building. There are no public rooms of any significance and the staff coverage is somewhat superficial. Not sure why it gets the ratings it does on trip advisor. Sure the location is good but there are some basics missing. For example I am not sure why I paid $300 a night for a superior room that did not even have a bath (at that price I didn’t even think to check beforehand) and no minibar. But Quebec City makes up for a lot for the deficiencies of this hotel; it is a fantastic and vibrant city.

My husband and I went to Quebec and booked Hotel 71 at the last minute - we ended up in a suite overlooking the river - the room and the view were amazing. I think I could have stayed in the shower all day! The Hotel staff goes above and beyond and interacting with them was very pleasent. We will definitely stay at hotel 71 again!

We stayed at the Hotel 71 for 3 nights in June 2008 and found it comfortable, quiet and the staff friendly. The location was very good - close to the shops and restaurants of Old Quebec City, but tucked away on a quiet side street. The staff were very pleasant and the cafe next to the lobby provided tea, coffee and even specialty coffees at no extra charge. The room was modern, with the colour scheme being dark wood furnishings with white walls and bedding. (A bit minimalistic for my liking, though.) Robes were provided. The bathroom did not have a tub, but the shower was very pleasant with multiple shower heads. However, there were a few problems with the room - the hardwood flooring was starting to wear and had come off in a few places so had a few very sharp edges to it. Also, we were not provided with enough dry towels each day, so ended up drying ourselves with hand towels a few mornings. The major disappointment was the breakfast - very little variety and no hot items. Basically a continental, even though they told us it was more then that. However, they will make you a specialty coffee for breakfast as well. Also, there is no parking, so they take your car when you check in and park it at a lot down the road. You are charged $20 a day for this.

I would recommend this hotel for it's location in Old Quebec City - very close to all the main sights, but very slightly "out" of the main drag, so very peaceful. Excellent front desk staff, very clean, rooms were tastefully decorated, very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom - the only thing against the hotel was its breakfast - very poor for a 4 star and always understaffed. Only other minor complaint was that you could not open the window (I do like some fresh air!!), but air-con was good so not a major problem.

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel over the phone after a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to Quebec City one afternoon in January. The staff was wonderful! Our car was taken away immediately and check-in was quick and painless.

The rooms are really fantastic. The bed was so comfortable that I actually thought it would be great to find out how to buy that particular mattress....and then I found out that the hotel actually markets them! Our room had a gorgeous view of the river (the lobby is on the main floor, but rooms are on floors 6 and higher). Other rooms have views of the Chateau Frontenac.

The hallways were dimly lit while colorful, lit up numbers marked the individual rooms. The coolest thing about the numbers (which were purple when we arrived), was that you could change the colors to green or red to say "clean this room" or "do not disturb." Our room was equipped with surround-sound speakers and really beautiful details. The decorations are minimal (which is the point- but the lighting and bedspread and television and everything- they were all great), while the ceilings are quite high- like a loft apartment. The room was a good size- big by European standards. The bathroom was downright gorgeous. The showerhead was fixed to the ceiling, rather than to the wall, and provided a waterfall feel. There were also complimentary bottles of water in the rooms.

Breakfast was good, although basic....but it was exactly what we needed to get us through the morning.

Finally, the location is great. Right in the old town, just under the chateau. The rooms are very quiet and very private. It was a perfect hotel for a romantic getaway. We loved this hotel and would most definitely go back!
