We had a wonderful vacation at this hotel. The staff were wonderful and very helpful .The accommadation was cheerful and bright. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
Why it is only 3 stars I don't know, it certainly deserves more.

Nice room, small boutique hotel, courteous staff. Close to all of Old Towns attractions, restaurants, etc. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the Citadel where the changing of the guard takes place. Breakfast is a limited... corn flakes, coffee, tea, OJ, small selection of pasties, boiled eggs, toast. Problematic for those with dietary issues. However, it is not far to walk (15 mins) to find a range of restaurants open for breakfast.

Room Tip: Room 40 is "large" faces the street. Good views. Good sleep quality.

We stayed our first night in an adjacent hotel, the 2-star Hotel Jardin St.-Anne, owned/managed by the same company, and were not happy there (tiny box of a room way up a weird, curvy staircase). We asked for a better room and they showed us several rooms in this, VERY much nicer, 3-star hotel, just two doors up the street. We changed to a room on the third floor of Le Champlain with a pleasant view of roofs and trees and Rue St.-Anne that was at least twice as big and four times as nice, and came with a terrific breakfast, for only $20 more a night. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful: I speak some French but not that well, and asked them to help us make some reservations, etc., for us, which they gladly and efficiently did. The breakfast changes somewhat each day: some days wonderful fresh croissants, some days crepes, and pate, maple cream, jams, yogurt, oatmeal, etc., etc., and very good coffee all day (but not in the room itself). Excellent location for sightseeing in the historic old city, as you can walk pretty much anywhere. Also, they will refund you $6 per night if you choose not to have them clean your room. Two negatives: for some reason in our room, #32, the drapes are not shortened over the area where they fall on the air conditioner, so light comes in and wakes you up.... And I managed to whack the heck out of my shin one night on the protruding corner of the bed frame. We would definitely stay in this hotel again if/when we return to Quebec. (PS, you can get pretty near to the hotel by taking the little "Ecolobus" from the bus/train station for $2. Don't do what we did (walked way up hill dragging our roller luggage, it's not fun and not necessary)!)

Room Tip: There's an elevator.

My husband and I just returned from a three day stay at Le Champlain. We loved everything about the hotel. The staff was wonderful and were happy to speak English. The hotel was well maintained. The location was excellent. It was a short walk to just about everything! On sight parking was a big plus. However, you must make advance reservations for parking. Although we live in Maine, this was our first trip to Quebec City. We loved it and plan to return and will definitely stay at Le Champlain.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite. It was very comfortable and lots of room. It was only my husband and I but...

I visited Quebec for a conference at the Convention Centre, and Hotel Champlain is very convenient, but still a part of the old city. It took me about 6 minutes to walk from the front door to the convention centre. The breakfast was very nice (including eggs and yogourt), and staff are very helpful. They even made dinner reservations for us in french! Our room was clean and spacious. It included a king size bed, fridge, small seating area, and glass door shower. I found being in the old city convenient to visit beautiful restaurants, and the many sights. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the moderate budget. Cannot go wrong when breakfast and wife are included, no hidden costs like the larger hotel chains. Would definitely stay again.

We had the junior suite for 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, elegant and very well situated to visit the old Quebec. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful! The included breakfast was excellent and varied. We plan on returning and will recommend this hotel to friends and family
