Our family of three stayed five nights at Le Vincent. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaxed. We stayed in room 6...which has a couch that was made up as a bed for our teenaged son...who reported that it was very comfortable for him. We had enough space in our room and did not feel cramped. There was enough room for my yoga practice.

Breakfasts were a pleasure. Each morning we looked forward to being greeted with orange juice with a slice of strawberry and choosing from a lovey menu offering crepes, eggs, or French toast served with slices of melon, pineapple and berries. Specialty coffees and tea would accompany this repast to start our day in Québec!

Room Tip: Our family of three stayed in room 6

We were delighted by the friendly welcome we received on arrival at Le Vincent. Eugenie in particular was charming and full of help with maps and suggestions. Our room was fine and breakfasts were huge. You just need to know that you have chosen to stay about 15mins walk outside the walled city - where the sight are.
But we enjoyed the walk each morning down St Jean to the gates of Quebec and ate most nights around the hotel either above on St Jean or below on St Joseph - where we recommend Pizzetta and Bilig for crepes. Cafe life in the city is like being in Paris again, especially in the sunshine and it is great fun to walk through the old streets and shops of Lower Town. Try the ice cream.
The steps up to the bedrooms in Le Vincent are steep and there is no lift - so it would maybe not suit you if you are not too mobile - but then Quebec is a city where you are constantly climbing up and down steps and slopes, so you will need to be fairly fit.
Most shops and restaurants will speak French to you and it helps if you can reply at least to begin the conversation.
We had a happy visit and recommend Le Vincent as your base. It is the sort of hotel that you remember!

We stayed in Room 1 on the first floor just off the lobby. The room had two queen beds, a small table with chairs, and a small (but updated bathroom), and a small fridge.

We paid $250 US/night (including taxes but not parking) in early July 2013, which we assumed would give us a very luxurious room. Instead, it looked and felt like a B&B room is someone's basement, which should cost around $100/night (even at QC prices).

Cons:
1. The room was very small, half underground. Also, kinda musty.
2. It was not especially clean, and the stone wall continually drops fragments on the floor, counters, etc.
3. The carpet is kinda laid on the floor, not really installed, and is worn/dirty.
4. Location is not great. You are not in the old city area. Probably a 15 minute walk, uphill one way. There are much closer options.

Pros:
1. As others have pointed out, the owner is very helpful.
2. The included breakfasts are great. However, at $250US/night, I figure we paid about $25/person/day for this breakfast (since the room should have been much less).

Maybe the other rooms here are wonderful, but I have to believe that for $250 US/night, we could have stayed in a much more centrally located and luxurious room.

Room Tip: Avoid Room #1 unless the price is around $100-$150/night.

I was impressed with this hotel with my first phone call to make a reservation. The attendant was so helpful in recommending attractings to see in the city, in preparation for our visit. The same attendant greeted us at the door, and helped us get settled in our very beautiful and artistic room. Everything was impeccably clean! There was fancy espresso coffee in our rooms, free movies available to borrow. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was amazing with three water sources. Everything about the room was fantastic.
Yet, just when I thought I couldn't be more impressed, breakfast blew me away. Breakfast was made to order by a chef! Fresh orange juice was served, an amazing array of fresh fruit, and hot breakfast of your choice, plus a perfectly done cappucino made just for me! I am so in love with both Quebec City and this hotel!

Thanks to Antonio and the staff at Auberge Le Vincent we had a wonderful romantic couples trip. The room was fantastic, and they were able to arrange for a dozen roses in the room upon arrival at my special request. The staff provided great suggestions on where to eat, and we had amazing experiences. We will definitely go back. Thanks so much for making it such a special time for us, and it really is the people at the place you go that make a trip extraordinary.

Room Tip: We liked Room 8
