Description: Inspired by the year of Quebec City's founding on the very exact site of this Bar, the 1608 Wine & Cheese Bar is a place to savor and taste, where the passion for Quebec local cheeses is combined with great wines from around the world. Discover a great variety and diversity of Quebec cheeses, perfectly matured inside our cheese room and paired perfectly to one of our many wines by the glass. Overlooking the St. Lawrence River, this new bar showcases one of the province's most stunning views.

Our first day in Old Quebec. We love charcuterie boards and wine pairings. Annie was our server and she was amazing. At first we sat in a small table area, but she moved us to a larger table by the window. View was beautiful of the St. Lawrence but our board was even more beautiful. We drank an entire bottle of french chablis along with a 3 cheese 2 meat board. We really enjoyed our meal and wine. Annie was a real pleasure! The offer you a snack of popcorn and a nut chex mix before your charcuterie board appears!

Nice way to start or end the night. We ended up sitting behind the bar, looking out that big bay window over the Dufferin Terrace and down the St. Lawrence as the clouds cleared from a storm. It kinda makes you smile.

My husband and I stayed at the Chateau and decided to stop here for a drink before dinner (2 nights). Although VERY SMALL and finding a seat other than at the bar is a challenge to say the least, it was pleasant. The staff is a tad bit under attentive though. They are busy and KEEP BUSY, I just think it's too busy with not enough staff. We ordered wine and a couple of appetizers and were pleasantly pleased.
The waiter did forget one of the appetizers on both nights, but it worked out. We also had dinner reservations next door at Champlain and ended up a tad late for, (due to forgotten appetizer) but the 1608 waiter made sure the restaurant was aware and we had no issues. The only issue was because the appetizer was late and we rushed to dinner, I wasn't ready for dinner....I needed a little more time to let the appetizer settle.
Over all it was wonderful. IF YOU ARE LUCKY enough to get a window seat, the views are incredible. (We were not). I would return. Expensive, but that's to be expected at the Chateau. I cannot find the Restaurant CHAMPLAIN in trip advisor to review that.....it was SPECTACULAR. almost $300. for two but the server was what it was all about. AMAZING waiter.

Stopped for a drink and had great cocktails with a lovely view of the river. The service was very good and I had a wonderful gin and tonic which was served with juniper berries.

As we were staying at the Chateau Frontenac, we made a point of going for cocktails one evening at 1608. We managed to get a table JUST before the real rush started at ~5:00 pm and spent an enjoyable hour with some friends sipping and snacking before we headed out for dinner.
