Description: La Crémaillère fête ses 40 ans.

“This is a Restaurant -- not a bistro”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Located in the old city, this restaurant is from all the reviews one of the best in Quebec city for food. Situated in a town house, there were tables set in various rooms, not crowded in the least, and exuding old world charm. It is quiet, casually formal (not a oxymoron), nice table settings, decent artwork in the walls. The waiter we had was good at sizing up the clientele, chatty and joking, or more polite and reserved depending on the table and its occupants. The food was of good quality, properly cooked, and nicely presented. The only disappointment was the sauce accompanying the sweetbreads we ordered -- rather dull and insipid. I would gladly go back for another try.

“Great Find!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

We were a big group (30 in all) which is not easy to serve but they did a great job. The food choices are wonderful and priced somewhat high but well worth it. The wine list is really good with bottles ranging in price from the high thirties to the upper fifties. All in all, a very enjoyable evening and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice French restaurant in Quebec City.

“Awesome food and service in a great decor”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Went to La Cremaillere on our recent trip to Quebec City and we were very happy with our choice. Obviously, this is not a cheap restaurant but I think it is well worth the price. We were a big group (11 in all) which is not easy to serve but everything was handled perfectly and the Maitre D, seeing that we were in a joking mood joined in once in a while; he was a pretty funny guy! Everyone was happy with their meals; my son had the Steak Tartare and I must admit I was a bit jealous because it looked absolutely awesome. All in all, a very enjoyable evening and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a high end French restaurant in Quebec City.
