This restaurant was the closest to my hotel that was open and received at least a 4.5 rating so I went. Boy was I disappointed. For all the hype and superlatives the food was plain plain. Well made, but plain. I've had better at The Keg (a steakhouse).
The "venison" I'm sure was beef, perfectly cooked beef. The blueberry sauce on the venison lacked anything other than a reduced blueberry jam flavour (what are the odds that's were it came from?!), the Rillettes Canard were like shredded duck with some pickles in it. Technically what it is, but really, a bit of flavour would have been nice. The wine was good and the service very friendly and relatively quick for what i ordered.
I sat on the porch overlooking the historic lower town in QC and the view and atmosphere were great (warning if you don't like a tour of school children going by every 5 minutes, don't sit outside in old Quebec) and I bet the rent in this neighbourhood wouldn't be cheap but $55 per person for the quality of food I received was not worth it.
All in all, decent, but not 4.5 stars and not worth the price
