My parents were the first ones to stay there while coming to Quebec city to visit me. They liked it so much that they're now going there everytime they come back. My sister and my grandmother stayed there too. The hosts are very welcoming and very helpfull, and the breakfast is really good.
For sure it's not in the tourist part of the town and that's why some people may find the area a bit rough, but seriously, it is safe and very close to a lot of convenient stores, good bars, public transportation... and you can easily walk to the tourist area while discovering the real life in Quebec city (which you couldn't if you were staying in Old Quebec).
I would definitely recommend this B&B!

We were a little skeptical about this B&B, but all went away with the warm reception including a ready walking tour that made our life so much easier mainly b/c we are only staying one night in Quebec. The owner also recommended us an event at night, shared a good amount of insight about the life in Quebec and it was just great. The breakfast is fantastic with all home made food and the owners share the table with us and chat at all the time which made it a very friendly breakfast! The quality of the rooms and the place in general are average for the price, but the friendliness and the cleanliness would definitely make us come back! You won't go wrong with this choice if you can afford the price!

Do not stay at this hotel! The area is quite scary, and walking to or from the hotel at any time of day or night would not be advisable, imo.

Around the corner from the hotel (I am not kidding about this) is an office where they are recruiting adult dancers, who 'need no experience or skills, they just need to be 18 (liberally translated from the French signage)'. Draw your own conclusions.

The hotel itself is just as scary- at least 40 steps up to the rooms, with a shower outside in the hallway, and temporary plywood as the dividers between rooms. Unsafe, unclean, and unacceptable, we chose not to stay after seeing the state of the area, the room and hotel, and proceeded to be bullied by the manager about the decision.

Stay far, far, away. If you walk along any street closer to Vieux Quebec, you can find B&B's that are similarly priced, that are much nicer, safer, cleaner, and better.

I stayed at this quiet and discreet little bed and breakfast this summer with my wife and two kids, after taking a pleasant train ride from Toronto. It's walking distance from the station, and although the area is a little rough, we discovered the house to be very pleasant and our hosts were very warm and welcoming. Our hosts didn't speak English, but between my wife and I we had enough French to communicate. The breakfasts every morning were absolutely divine - crepes, pain perdu, yogurt, and home-baked muffins and bread. Our room was a little smaller than what we had imagined, but suited our needs. There's a courtyard garden which acts like an urban oasis, complete with fountain and climbing vines. You feel like there's noone around you. The neighbourhood is a little off the beaten path - walking to Petite Champlain would take you about 30 minutes. However, there are many galleries, restaurants and shops along the way, so it's worth the trip. We were also surprised to learn there is a free public swimming pool about 5 minutes away, always a bonus when you're travelling with kids in the summer.
