We called in at La Nouvelle France whilst walking about the old town, wanting a light lunch. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff and the service we had throughout the meal was very good.
The food was a very good quality (especially the soupe du jour and the soupe a l'oignon) and reasonably priced.
We spent a very relaxed hour sitting outside and would recommend this restaurant which is just of the artists alley.

This restaurant was a nice choice, just off Artist's Alley. Our server, Vincent, was friendly, attentive, and helpful with our faulty French! We sat outside, ordered drinks and dinner-I had one of the soup, salad, bread options-going for the soup du jour, which was a traditional Canadian Soup-creamy turnip and maple syrup--does not sound good, but it was fantastic! My companion had the tourtiere pie. Not what we are used to coming from a French-Canadian town in Maine. We are used to a minced/ground meat pie. This was a lovely, slow cooked meat pie with tender cuts of meat and good flavor. For dessert, we shared the tarte au sucre-sweet but delicious. This is a nice casual place, prices are good (for Quebec City). We did not have a reservation, and had no problem being seated.

A simple menu in a city that's full of pretend sophistication - with sensible prices. Friendly service and good food. Pies and stews are excellent. Table d'hote menus are very good value.

Nice place to have a not expensive lunch. The choice of food is not the greatest but enough to have a nice meal. The service was good.

We found this place by accident when search for dinner on the Thanksgiving long weekend. The restaurant and servers were very good. We didn't have black tie attire and were worried we would be able to find a place after our concierge said that everything was booked until 9:00 pm that evening. We strolled down the artisians walkway across from the Fairmont and this place is tucked away on the left hand side. Only open until November and during warmer weather - this place was a find. I had the steak - frites and salad about $19 and my husband had the quebec traditional tortierre. We both had the pea soup. The soup was the best I've ever had and I would highly recommend it. My husband loved the tortierre but was surprised as it had chunks of different meat with a lovely pastry - there was a bite left on the plate. The Maple Syrup pie that came with his meal ($25) was absolutely sinful! I would highly recommend this place - honestly non of the food was "bad" can't believe that at all. Delicious and savoury and not expensive - we loved it and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for no frills or fru fru experience. Very good!
