“A very lovely stay in a great location”
Reviewed 12 May 2013

We felt so lucky that we were able to get the last room when we arrived in Trois rivieres with no booking. We had the apartment, which was spacious, fully equipped, private bath, and nicely decorated. The apartment is in the basement, but has plenty of windows and light, terrific kitchen and a private entrance. The inn is lovely, and I really liked that local artists were featured throughout out the inn. There is off street parking as well. Excellent accommodations, but the "icing on the cake" is the innkeeper who was so friendly and charming and just exuded hospitality. The gite is located on the most beautiful street in the old part of town and one block from the very nice river park and promenade, and easy stroll to restaurants. the breakfast was very good, and the table setting lovely. Attention to detail throughout. Don't hesitate to stay here, you will love the inn and your hosts. We felt we hit the home run here.

lovely place. Magnificent breakfasts. The bathroom is of little use. The mirror is 4 feet above the floor and had a wooden plank across the middle. The one light was BEHIND anyone using the sink, so there was no light on the face. I had to finally move a lamp into the bathroom, in order to shave. The shared shower is on the floor, and bathrobes are provided. They are so short that they covered about 3 feet of my 6 foot frame. not helpful!!!

Room Tip: It's a quiet place

Of the 50 or so B&B's I've stayed in this is the best. I rate B&B's on the quality of the room, the restfulness of the sleep, the care and quality of the facilities, the desire of the innkeepers to meet guest needs, the warmness of both the innkeepers and the ambiance of the facilities, and the quality of the breakfast service and food. It is not often that one of these characteristics rate truly superior. In the case of Gite Loiselle all characteristics are superior. All of this in a wonderfully quaint neighborhood with the river within easy walking distance. Don't be concerned about the shower down the hall, it is of superior quality and robes are provided for each guest.

This is my second trip to Trois Rivieres for work. I can always count on a warm smile from Lisette and Mario, a restful nights sleep and a delicious breakfast to start my day (6:45am was typical for me). Their hospitality goes above and beyond. A choice of 3 options for breakfast (#1 the Mauricie with 2 eggs, toast, creton and fruit - every breakfast starts with orange juice, coffee, a warm oven baked muffin and a small yogurt with different fresh ingredients everyday) #2 sorry I cannot recall but it has an English muffin as part of it and and #3 french toast with syrup and fruit.
There are several rooms on the upstairs floor and although the rooms were full most nights, I could not hear the other guests. The shower down the hall is very pretty and don't worry if you forgot your shampoo they have a dispenser available and the bathrobes provided are just another attention to detail that makes the stay so enjoyable.
The Gite is easy walking to Old downtown, the river and many different restaurants. If you don't want to go more then a few step The Piazza" is really just a few steps away and serves a nice Italian style menu!
For a traveller looking for a more personal feel rather than just a basic impersonal hotel room, this is the place to stay! Like my title says...I wish I could find more places like Gite Loiselle along my travels.

Room Tip: The pink room #1 has always been my choice...the chandelier above on the ceiling and the SUPER comfy...

My husband and I stopped over in Trois-Rivieres between Montreal and Quebec City ... and are we ever glad that we did! I chose to stay at Gite Loiselle because of the prior reviews on trip advisor. Our host, Lisette, was beyond accomidating. There was a meal selection for the breakfast and our room was very warm and comfortable. Her English is much better than she claims it to be. My husband, who speaks fluent French did help translate, but there wasn't much she wasn't able to communicate to me. She did tell us she is currently taking more English classes, so it's improving every day. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. We both had eggs over an english muffin with cheese melted on top. She sided it with a plate of fruit. Tons of fresh coffee and OJ as well! I would highly recommend a stay at this B&B. Enjoy!

Gite Loiselle B&B is a delightful B&B with impeccably decorated rooms and common areas. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are just gorgeous. They provide secure storage for bicycles (and are cyclists themselves) which gave us peace of mind while we stayed there.

The location is wonderful, just down the street from the riverfront and close to many restaurants. Trois-Rivieres is a lively city that honors its history and is a nice place to visit.

Our breakfast was wonderful and was one of the few B&Bs that provided options on the main portion. The meal was delicious and beautifully presented.

Lisette made us feel at home throughout our stay and was delightful to talk with. She will tell you her English isn't very good but we found that is not the case. We were able to learn about the history of the area, get some great restaurant recommendations and learn how they got into the B&B business - all in English (it was quite impressive).

They provide wonderful service. We wanted to have a glass of wine and some cheese on their front porch but were missing 1 chair for our party of 3. One was quickly delivered and we were able to enjoy our wine and the beautiful neighborhood. Liette also was kind enough to launder our cycling clothes - offered when we asked if there was a place we could hang our clothes after washing them out. This is service above and beyond the call of duty but representative of the delightful visit we had.

We would recommend the Gite Loiselle to anyone staying in Trois Riveres
