“A Good Irish Pub in Regina”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

Others commented that this place was slow to ask you what you want but if you go to the bar... The staff are friendly and quick to get you a drink and food. Just place your order at the bar and have a seat. I enjoyed a plate of fish & chips with a local pint of black Irish lager (similar to Guinness). Of course they have the real Guinness on a 'short tap'. The food was good, they had live music and a good pub atmosphere. For best results.. order from the bar. May your glass be ever full.

“For the rambunctious at heart.”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

The restaurant/bar offers outdoor seating in a picnic table style across from Victoria Park. The service is good however the patio is a tight fit and difficult to maneuver. You can however meet nice and crazy people.

“Always a great time”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

We always enjoy going there. The crowd is quite young so if older you need to go earlier in the evening. However, the beer is always cold and the food (especially the irish stew) is always hot and tasty.

“The Superstar of Western Canadian Pubs”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

If you are looking for a great pub atmosphere in Regina, look no further. This place is as authentic as they come as it's is owned and run by an immigrant Irish pub manager, the inimitable Nialls O'Hanlon. Under his guidance, this little bar in a little city has become the top-seller of Guinness in Canada and is in the running with bars in Boston (!) to become one of the top sellers in North America.

Ipso facto, this is a beer hall. If you are coming looking for a fancy lounge, go away. Crave or the Hotel Sask, both within a block, can help you there. The reviewers who have criticized O'Hans for being "grungy" are missing the point.

Likewise, those critics who came looking for a restaurant experience were severely misinformed. The criticisms about the food are pretty much accurate. Their pub food - prepared in the Greek restaurant next door - is not great, except for their pizza which is very good.

What O'Han's stand out is its welcoming pub atmosphere. This is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel comfortable having a pint and visiting. On a typical Friday afternoon, you'll see tables of business types in suits sharing a laugh with a table of young hippies.

The staff is very efficient at slinging drinks during the peak times i.e. on the weekend and some weekday evenings. I've never been there at any other time so I can't speak to the critics who say they received slow weekday supper service but I find that plausible. Again, this isn't really a restaurant.

O'Han's has grown steadily over the years and now features expanded space and many special nights. Fridays are band night (with a strict no-cover policy); Saturdays are dance nights (which keeps the nightclub crowd from drifting away); and Sundays are their famous alcohol-fueled trivia contest nights. They've also recently started their own microbrewery.

Also on the plus side: very efficient and professional bouncers. I've never once seen a fight or disagreement of any kind (pretty amazing for a bar of this size that serves such a large volume of liquor) and any street people who wander by are unlikely to make it over the threshold before getting bounced.

All in all, a great place, one of the must-see establishments in Regina - if you are looking for a pub.

“Worst service ever!”
Reviewed 26 March 2013

It was very funny, I entered this place, stayed there for more than 15 minutes and NOBODY asked me if I wanted something! I decided to go to a different place, I can believe they have this terrible service...
