Located just a few minutes outside the city off Warman road. Small interpretation center that has a theater, restraunt (buffalo burgers!) and an arts and crafts room. Also has a small tourist shop with native crafts to buy. My fav are the outdoor trails. There are 3 to choose from and vary from short and easy to long and moderate difficulty. It is situated along the river so it is pretty peaceful. Never over-run but oodles of tourists. Last time I was there though, the front desk staff was lacking enthusiasm and wasn't quite sure of what they were doing. Maybe they had new hires or something?

We were very disappointed on our visit. The main info centre and store was okay, but the walk around the property consisted of nothing more than a couple old teepees with nothing in them. The trails around the site are nice but there are no displays other than the signs advising you to "use your imagination". If they had some nice displays set up showing native life along the trails it would be a great place. Now all that is there is a nice walk along the banks of the South Saskatchewan River.

You shouldn't miss up the chance to visit and learn all that the native culture has contributed to the fabric of our Province and Country. Guided tours are fantastic, and don't miss the chance to eat in the casual dining area. You MUST try the bison. And when you leave, don't forget how important our Canadian indigenous people are, and how much we can learn from them.

Wanuskewin has been a significant attraction for the city of Saskatoon but has fallen on hard times of late. While the trails associated with this Cree over-wintering site remain as worth visiting, the indoor material has been stripped away. The excellent introductory movie, which used to play on a large screen is now shown on a very small television. The interpretive exhibits are gone, as is the archeological prep room, which could be seen through an interior window. All that remains indoors is a room exhibiting aboriginal art - often interesting, but not worth the price of admission. There are times when Indian dancers are present and that will make a visit worthwhile.

My advise would be to drive out on a pleasant day when a walk on the trails would be worthwhile. Have lunch at the restaurant and ask what be be going on inside before entering. If nothing much is happening and all you really want is a walk in a prairie landscape, try the Meewansin Valley Authority's Beaver Creek Conservation Area instead.

I could have spent a day orr more there. I enjoy amateur archeology and the talks and ongoing digs were a real treat. The split screen video telling the history of the first nations use of the area was fasinating. It wouldappeal more to older teens and adults as I noticed younger children rush through the exhibits and ready to leave far sooner than mom and dad
