We followed the buffalo signs out to this heritage site...not far from the city.
It is beautiful and peaceful here. The heritage centre inside is very nice ,however not a lot to see. The gift shop had some very nice Native art for sale.
Outside we were disappointed to not see any buffalo but that is okay.
It was a nice place to visit.

Wanuskewin Heritage Park is a national historic site. A Northern Plains Indians cultural interpretive centre located 5 kms north of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I was here for a professional development opportunity in September - what a great location. The scenery was beautiful and the information and displays in the interpretive centre were well done. Make sure you get out on the trails though if you really want to experience what the parl has to offer. Get out and enjoy the archeological history of our plains First Nations!

Don't come if you don't like to walk. Themed on nature and trails and interesting to see the jumps and pounds and imagine the past as they present it. The interpretive center could be expanded to include more. We enjoyed it.

After being to Batoche we were disappointed. Wanuskewin could do so much more. In reality, there was little to see inside the building which was a let down as the building and location and gorgeous. They could of had natives dressed in traditional costume meet visitors at the door to explain their culture and natives at the teepee to explain what you were looking at and its significance. In essence we looked at some paintings, ate some bannock and left. The day we were there it was raining so we couldn't do the trails. This place has so much potential.

Located just a few minutes outside the city off Warman road. Small interpretation center that has a theater, restraunt (buffalo burgers!) and an arts and crafts room. Also has a small tourist shop with native crafts to buy. My fav are the outdoor trails. There are 3 to choose from and vary from short and easy to long and moderate difficulty. It is situated along the river so it is pretty peaceful. Never over-run but oodles of tourists. Last time I was there though, the front desk staff was lacking enthusiasm and wasn't quite sure of what they were doing. Maybe they had new hires or something?
