The Mendel Art gallery is a free to the public venue that sites looking over the Saskatchewan river.

The gallery itself is almost totally dedicated to modern artists, but the quality is high and the setting is perfect. The building itself a modernist design icon.

Inside the building you'll find a glass house of exotic flowers, a well stocked and interesting gift shop and a small cafe; the delights of which we didn't sample but was well populated on our visit.

A lovely place to waste a bit of time.

I loved the works by Eli Bornstein. Had a time finding this on Trip Advisor because it"s in the wrong category.

Should you drop by Saskatoon, make it a point to spend some time at the Mendel Art Gallery and Civic Conservatory. No admission fee but they take donations. It will certainly help and keep this beautiful place maintained for many, many years. It is worth your money. It is peaceful, beautiful, clean and relaxing. After checking out the place, you can drop by their small coffee shop have a cup of coffee or tea, read a book and relax. They also have a gift shop full of quaint items, books and many more. We were here in the summer and pretty sure it is a great escape from rainy and wintery days. Highly recommended this attraction!

Nice gallery for the size of city. Cafe is nice, although food choices wane in the afternoon. Sunday there can be a lot of kids there in the afternoon. Nice 15 min walk from Sheraton and Delta. Free. Friendly staff. Gift shop is a little congested but there are some nice items and it does not feel like a tourist trap as there are handmade items from Canada there. Good place to hand out before or after boat tour.

Saskatoon winters are long! Especially this one (2013). The Art gallery is a great place to go, specifically the conservatory. Escape to the lush green "forest" and sit on a bench, breath deeply and take in the beauty of the plants and flowers. A great place to meditate. The gallery exhibits will always offer something interesting to see. Wireless internet throughout. Check out the gift shop. Some one-of-a-kind items you won't find anywhere else. This is a tourist destination but don't forget about this treasure if you are a local. It's a great way to get some light therapy and renew your spirit!
