Four of us went to St. Tropez before Persephone Theatre yesterday (Friday, May 2, 2014). We had dined there before and found it quite good. No longer.
Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and menu items and quite a pleasant young woman. From the moment that the wine was delivered, matters went downhill.
Four biscuits were served as part of the meal. A request for another four was met with a "you'll have to pay for more". The soup and salad were good. The blackened chicken was good as were the vegetables but the garlic mashed potatoes were not properly warmed. A filet ordered as medium rare came back very rare and was not significantly improved when it was sent back to be cooked more. The caramel desert was "ho hum", at best.
The wait staff started to remove plates from the table before everyone had finished their meal leaving one with the feeling of being rushed. Empty wine and water glasses were whisked away in a most perfunctory manner.
The server who brought the bill stood at the table and did the calculations of 50-50 split in a most unprofessional manner.
There are too many really good restaurants in Saskatoon to waste time returning to St. Tropez.
