Owner description: Situated on the banks of the Yukon River, the Cultural Centre is a place where we celebrate the heritage and contemporary way of life of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation people. It is also a gathering place for people of all cultures. The vision of the Cultural Centre is to revive, preserve, and demonstrate our language, practices, values and traditional way of life for the benefit of Kwanlin Dun people. We also want to share our culture with other First Nations and people from around the world.

This tour lets you get inside the building and see the architecture. It will give you a brief insight into First Nations culture. It is a good starting point.

We visited this First Nation cultural center & convention center in early Sept, though alter Labor Day, so the regular tours had stopped for the season. However, the Marketing Manager saw us looking around and stopped to talk to us. She personally showed us all of the rooms & facilities of the center, explained what the center was trying to do, and talked at length about her First Nation background. She was very engaging, enthusiasatically yet candidly answering all of our questions. She probably spent the better part of an hour with us, away from her normal duties. We really appreciated that!
The building itself is stunning, and right on the Yukon River. There weren't a lot of exhibits, since the facility is only a year old. But those that were there were very well done.
We were sorry that we had missed the regular "tourist" season, when we could have been given a more formal guided tour. If we come back to the area, we will definitely put this on our "Must-see" list! I imagine that by then, a lot more will have been added. But even if not, it's a very satisfying learning stop..

This was our first stop on a city tour. Hubby and I wished we'd started the tour on the second stop.
Tour guide was very slow, rather condescending, and extremely bitter about her First Nation people's past.
We wouldn't recommend this activity unless they get a different guide.

We were behind a tour group so listened to the native guide giving the tour. We were appalled at her political attitude and almost hatred sound of the government when she was talking to tourist from all over the world. As a Canadian it made me very embarassed by this type of behaviour. There are issues everywhere but the attitude about it can make an impact, negative or positive, on tourists. We walked out and would never recommend this centre to anyone because of her.
