“Fantastic Yukon Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014 via mobile

The Wheelhouse represents the best of Whitehorse's cuisine. Fine dining, historically-themed, and full of rich wild meat, this place is fantastic for special occasions. Its seating offers a great view of the river as well.

It's clear the owner takes pride in his establishment. The decor is authentic, based around the old steamships that used to traverse the river. Staff are friendly, the cocktails are high class, and the appetizers and deserts are a blend of eclectic and delicious that feature local yukon businesses.

I highly recommend this restaurant for Yukoners and tourists.

Great service. Very personable. Sit on the patio and enjoy the clay cliffs. Interesting history displayed throughout.

“Delicious and fresh”

The fish dishes here are divine! A tad over-priced. The atmosphere is on the river, with big open windows! A lovely place for an apertivo!

“Absolutely Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

My friend and I went to the Wheelhouse for dinner last Tuesday evening and the entire experience could not have been better. The staff were friendly, very helpful and attentive. More importantly, however, is that the food was fabulous! We shared the cheddar and jalapeno cheesecake as a starter. Yummy! For the next course, we shared the broccolini salad and it was a very interesting melange of tastes - the dressing has smoked paprika in it and the poached pear served with it has a slightly clove flavour. The combination is very good. For our main courses, my friend had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly and she said her lemon-zested risotto was delicious. I had the tenderloin which I always order bleu. It often comes over-cooked even when I explain that I really do mean bleu! My steak arrived exactly as I had ordered. If I have any small criticism, it is that the vegetable served with the main course was also broccolini and, if you order that salad, a different vegetable with the main course might work better. To end the evening, we shared the lemon meringue cheesecake and it was, as everything else, wonderful. The restaurant has a very good selection of wines as well. I have eaten in restaurants all over Europe and in North America and I would put the meal I had here up against any I have had elsewhere. It was very, very good!

“Loved the atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

What a beautifully decorated Klondike Gold Rush-themed restaraunt. The food was fantastic and the service was perfectly timed. The prices were a little high compared to other great places in town, but worth it for the once-a-year special occasion.
The pork medallions wrapped in bacon were cooked to perfection, and the chat was delicious. I wished the coffee creme brûlée was larger - it was cooked in a tiny mug and hardly seemed worth the $9. But it too was delicious.
