We've just got back from staying three nights in the cottage at Southern Forest Accommodation. It was so lovely. Barbara and Steve have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable, from the wonderful homemade jams, to the extra helping of homemade bread! The cottage has two bedrooms, one with bunks, so you could easily have two couples or a family stay here. There is everything you need, from the corkscrew to the John Cale cd. It is such a peaceful, relaxing spot, I highly recommend coming here. We also loved the native garden and wrote down the names of some of the plants for our own garden! The only disappointing thing was that some plants weren't labelled and we missed seeing the elusive, yet obviously very talented, Barbara so that we could ask what they were! I would stay here again in a hearbeat.

Thank you for your positive review! Good to hear that what we're doing is appreciated. I'll be working on more plant labels this year and look forward to talking native plants if you visit again :-)

Our Stay here at Southern Forest was fantastic, Our hosts Barbara and Steve were great and very keen to share info of the local area. The rooms were great, beautiful and clean even though it is a communial bathroom and living area, we were the only ones there at the time, with nice verandah overlooking the garden and a pleasant stroll through the gardens
with wallaby in the distance. The beakfast was fantastic, cannot reccommend the salmon and scrambled eggs enough as it was supurb. We had a steak at the Southport Hotel just a short walk at the end of the street and that also was great value for money.

Room Tip: We had the purple room at the back and it has plenty of room for luggage with a lovely feel to the room

We stayed here for three nights. We were supplied home made bread. The cottage is spacious, has a gas BBQ on the balcony and is close to the local attractions like Hastings Cave

We stayed here for three nights. Barbara and Steve were great hosts. We were supplied home made bread and the fire was going nicely when we arrived. The cottage is spacious and easy to heat once the fire is up and running. There was a nice outdoor eating area with gas BBQ. It was quite close to Hastings Cave and other attractions.

If you have kids, or just want a lovely relaxing cottage, then don't miss Southern Forest Cottage. We stayed for 4 nights and could have easily stayed longer. There's so much to do in this area with the kids - we'll go back next year to finish all the things we didn't get to! The cottage is superb - lots of little touches to make it homely, and the owners Barbara and Steve were welcoming and available but left us alone to do our own thing. The cottage sits in a lovely bush garden and is secluded from the house and B&B, it's lovely and cosy, great comfy beds, fantastic kitchen for self catering, and great spots to sit with a cuppa and watch the wildlife and enjoy the peace. Don't hesitate - make this a part of your Tassie holiday - you won't regret it!
