The family suite at the top of Chez Providence was a wonderful home-from-home for our four-day stay in the Black Mountains.
The rooms were perfect for us and our two sons aged 8 and 11. We had the larger room with the double bed, two sofa-beds and a dressing table (with much-appreciated hairdryer). The boys had the little room with two single beds and we all shared the en-suite bathroom. The room was elegantly decorated, immaculately clean and had many thoughtful touches, including board games, magazines and beach towels.
Our mornings began with a scrumptious breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolats, wonderful breads, goats’ cheese & honey and yoghurt & home-made chestnut puree. On our first evening, we had dinner at Chez Providence and Christina gave us a delicately-balanced asparagus soup, a light coq au vin made with white wine and fabulous poached pears accompanied with a lovely rose wine. Her food was easily the best that we ate in the whole of our stay in the Black Mountains.
Christina was generous with her advice about outings for our family. She asked us what we liked doing and recommended places & restaurants that she thought we would enjoy. By following her suggestions, we climbed spectacular cathar castles, explored caves filled with stalactites & crystals and made the most of our visit to la Cité in Carcassonne.
We loved staying with Christina and highly recommend Chez Providence.More
