The pub was very busy, a good sight in current times, and it was steak night when i called in. The food and service were excellent, i only wish this was my local.

We live down the road from The Fox and Hounds and have been there 3 times trying to get a good meal. We can't figure out how this pub is still open, as they never feed us. The first and the third time we went in, we were told it would be over an hour before they could even take our order! We don't mind waiting for good food, but to ignore us for an hour is unacceptable. The second time, they told us the same thing but we decided to wait and see why the service took so long. It took forever to order and we waited patiently for our meals to arrive. The food turned out to be average pub food with absolutely no redeeming qualities for the restaurant itself. You have to go there when you are full, because you won't get food for 2 hours after you walk in. I don't recommend this pub because they don't care about actually feeding people and there are much better places to eat. We won't be going back a fourth time.

Was hungry when we left Boscombe Downs, thought we would stop and get a bite to eat. Normally one doesn't stop when someone is hold up a sign on the side of the road beconning people to go into their village to eat. But, we were in England and thought why not.

Drove about 4-5 mins. down the road into Thurston and found a Jem. Neesled amongst homes with thatched roofs and tight streets was this place. Fabulous food, fresh, hot and made to order. Service was friendly and helpful, atmosphere was charming. Price was about £45.00 for two and worth every pound. To bad one has to stumble in on such a place but I guess that is part of the fun of traveling.

We recently just moved to the area and discovered the fox and hounds. We have been several times now and found the customer service is excellent. The food comes in very large portions but of very good quality and is cooked to perfection. Lots of choice of food all cooked fresh and my husband always enjoys sampling all the different ales.
The only downside is that you need to book, as it books up very quickly. We have often had to go elsewhere as they book up sometimes 2 weeks in advance. This is definitely well worth a visit, good for families and great for couples and friends.

Had a lovely stay here . There is a restaurant attached and the meals were really nice. My only complaint, if there is one, is that the portions were far too large and I felt there was aa lot of waste. They have special nights e.g. curry nights, steak nights etc and these are usually discounted to two meals for a tenner. It was very busy with people coming in to eat and although we stayed for 4 days, we felt it was homely and the owners were very nice people. Breakfast was lovely. The beds were comfy and cosy and spotlessly clean we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope to return in the future. Yes its thumbs up fort this one and we can see why it wins awards.
