Great setting but some flaws.

Our bathroom was with the usual grubby carpet so beloved in the UK. It was advertisd as having a shower but had only a shower head in the bath only, usable just for hair washing. Also, they had mixed up the reservations and given our travelling companion the bigger and better room, although ours was a double too. We realized this too late to change.

We missed a breakfast buffet and 9.00 is simply to early to finish breakfast. As normal in the UK the place is overpriced by Continental standards.

The restaurant is certainly good though.

Stayed couple of nights in log cabin. Accommodation OK, clean & tidy. Towels were frayed at edges, could be better. Main building needs some tlc and cleaning. Cobwebs in lobby and carpet worn. Only had breakfast, which was waitress service, one morning waited 15mins to get served. Charged £1.50 for getting paper. Don't think it deserves the 4 rating other guests have given it.

We held our wedding at The Grange and were incredibly impressed with everything.
The building and gardens are beautiful, the food was exquisite, and we stayed in a fabulous log cabin overlooking the garden which was very clean and modern.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, I would recommend The Grange for anyone looking to stay in the area.

I invited my Italian friends for an English weekend and was looking for a hotel that offered a good English atmosphere and felt I made a very good choice with the Grange Hotel. We loved the tudor style building, the open fire. We were put in probably the pokiest of their rooms but they were still a good size with great ensuite facilities. The rooms were serviced very well and we felt very comfortable in the peace of the countryside.

The hotel is known for it's restaurant and we were very impressed with the menu and dishes served. It is no wonder the restaurant was busy on the Saturday night but on the Sunday we were lucky because we were the only guests in the restaurant as they had closed it to local custom so the chef's could train the waiting staff on their new concoctions all of which looked irresistable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and left you alone but if you needed anything there was always someone around to help out. I liked the little touches like putting a cocktail umbrella in a child's coke.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Grange and would highly recommend it for visitors coming into Stansted or visitors to Cambridge or Newmarket.

Arrived at the Grange Hotel and very impressed at first glance - fantastic location - very remote.

Checked into our room which was very small and very dated. Bathroom was shabby and in need of some TLC. There were no cabinets or shelves to put your toiletries! Room was hot all night and bed felt very small.

Hotel forgot to tell us that there was a wedding reception that night and we were kept awake until midnight.

Breakfast was nice, good choice and evening meal in the dining room was excellent. Good wine list.

Unfortunately we didn't feel it was worth £85 a night B&B.
