The rooms are in a building opposite the airside building.
The stylish rooms are clean, beautifully appointed in Art Deco style. You must stay to really enjoy.

We stayed at the Aviator for one night over the weekend. It reminded me of a Premier Inn/Travel Lodge format, in so far as the hotel sleeping accommodation is in a completely separate building from the bar/restaurant.

Clearly, when the venue was last modernised, a lot of thought went into the 1930s Art Deco Aviation theming, evident throughout the venue. However the façade is starting to look a bit jaded, and the exterior could do with some maintenance in places, and a bit of polishing and dusting wouldn't go amiss inside the restaurant.

I did like the variety of places to sit - both inside and out - with the bar lounge area very much themed in the style of an officer mess.

Plus points:
A good selection of beers and a good ambience in the bar. Great breakfast sausages.

Minus points:
Bar counter had not been wiped and was sticky (ugh!)
Outside tables could have been cleared and cleaned once guests had left
Seems to operate on a minimum number of staff, especially at breakfast time.
Bedroom Pillows very flat .. take your own!

Room Tip: There I no air conditioning, so you have to leave your bedroom window open. This means that you can...

Stayed 2 nights at The Aviator Hotel , Although a light sleeper I slept well with disturbance. Our room was spotlessly clean & comfortable. Housekeeping staff very polite & helpful. We ate both Friday ( a very good fish & chip supper ) & at a function on the Saturday night , Saturday's meal was was very good & served very well by cheerful waitresses. The Breakfast Buffet has a wide range so there should cater for everybody's taste, the only thing missing was a jug of water plenty of juices etc but once I asked a waitress a jug of iced water one soon appeared. The Art Deco & Aviation decor is well presented. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay & certainly will stay again.

All I want to say is no security at night which means it's pretty much a free for all the night we stayed there think the hotel had held a swingers convention as there was a lot of noise of people going in and out of rooms doors slamming, my young daughter getting woke up by a woman moaning so loud I wanted to kick the door in and drag her out ... My poor baby daughter woke up a number of times ... No staff tried to speak to management but he won't talk to me ...such a shame as it's a beautiful hotel but no standards or decent staff ... Rather go to a premier inn

We recently hosted a weekend fly-in event for over 70 pilots and spouses. The hotel were great in accommodating us, and although they were unable to meed our specific requirements regarding the Saturday night banquet, the efforts made in other areas more than made up for this. Breakfast arrangements were slick, and thoughtful touches added by the duty staff on the day helped make it a memorable event for our attendees. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the overall 'Golden Years of Aviation' ambience was a perfect backdrop.

reason for stay was a wedding reception...and a great time was had...was very curious about the hotel/aerodrome...and lovely it all was, bit quirky, very much art deco, which I realise is 'my' thing:) stayed 'by accident' in the disabled facility room...we had a huge KING size bed and a very large room...loved it:) staff were friendly and professional, drinks prices more like pub prices than normal hotel 'over the top' charges, so that was very welcome...outside garden area with views over airfield...lots to take in, will visit again, with time to hopefully then see the museum, advise is well worth a visit...

Room Tip: with window open heard road noise but did not spoil our stay...

We recently had our wedding breakfast in the restaurant at the Aviator. Everything from the food (which was delicious) the service, the atmosphere was just wonderful. We got the impression that everyone wanted to make this a special day for us...and they did.

We realised on the way to the Aviator from the ceremony that we had not ordered bucks fizz for our guests arrival, we requested this when we arrived, it was no problem and by the time the guests started arriving it was being passed around, very quick and very efficient.

Several of us stayed the night in the hotel, the rooms were clean, the bathrooms spacious and a quirky art deco feel. The breakfast was again very good and the service delightful.

I would never hesitate in recommending the Aviator to anyone who is holding a function.

Thank you everyone for a lovely day
