We were lucky enough to stay last night with friends. What a surprise! I cannot rate this B&B and pub highly enough. Everything was perfect. The rooms are first class. Lovely monsoon shower. The coffee machine was a hit. I want one now. We has an excellent evening meal. Service was top class. Loved it.

Single night stay last weekend, 2 couples and stayed in rooms 3 & 5. We were going in and out of Bath so be warned, it's close enough but costly if drinking (£30 - 35 each way).

On arrival I was greeted by the owner, a lovely man, couldn't make you feel more welcome if he tried. Walking into the pub, it was clear to see this was a well run and perfect place for a nice cosy evening. I was shown to the room and given a brief helpful intro to some of the finer points (Tassimo coffee machine, automatic lighting in bathroom, etc).

The bed was lovely and comfortable. We didn't really watch TV but the reception was great and fine choice of freeview channels. The decor was modern and fresh, but cosy at the same time. The bathroom was more of a wet room style with a lovely large walk-in rain shower that we both loved.

I would definitely recommend staying here and next time we will definitely eat an evening meal as the breakfast was lovely and again everyone was so friendly and attentive.

1 last mention for the lovely William. Gorgeous dog and hopefully next time, he will overcome his shy nature and come and say hello.

Stayed here with my wife for one night in early December 2013 when on a short trip to the Cotswolds. The Old House offers six individually-furnished rooms in a detached building adjacent to the pub/restaurant.

On arrival we were shown to our room, the king double (named Ruinart), by the owner who also offered assistance with our luggage and gave us a short guided tour of the facilities. Our accommodation was luxurious - spacious, warm, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished, with a wall-mounted TV and coffee/tea machine (no kettle). I was also impressed by the limestone bathroom and its walk-in shower, plus the toiletries and slippers provided.

Although the rooms face the road which runs through the village, the double-glazing was enough to shut out any traffic noise and also the howling gale which which was blowing on the day we arrived.

We didn't take dinner in The Old House but we did enjoy a delicious, well-prepared full breakfast by the open fireplace - there was a wide selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruit juices too. I think we were the only overnight guests on this pre-Christmas Thursday night, so we had the pub/restaurant to ourselves on the Friday morning.

We found our short stay at The Old House highly comfortable and very good value.

I had booked this to break a long business journey and wasn't disappointed. Lovely bedroom with an extremely classy en-suite. The room itself was well appointed with hairdryer and straighteners (a first in an hotel room and a welcome addition) with comfortable bed and excellent quality linens. Wifi was free (definite tick in the box) and fast and my only criticism would be that the chair to use whilst working wouldn't go under the table so uncomfortable.

I ate in the pub restaurant. Good meal if on the pricey side with attentive service. Excellent breakfast.

Would I stay again? Yes

This place is absolutely amazing! The rooms are very beautiful, modern designed and clean. Rooms come with brilliant wifi and good supply of coffee with machine and a few little snacks. The pub is wonderful and the food served there delicious and generous serving sizes :) It was an excellent peaceful, quiet and relaxing stay. The staff were excellent.

A picturesque pub with six individual accommodation situated above and away from the pub (so not noisy at all!) each room is modern, stylish and uniquely designed respectively.

PROS: comfy bed, a coffee machine (not a kettle), good strong wifi (enough to stream), good lighting (though it's an auto sensor, so if you are petit, be prepared to swing your arms for movements every 2 minutes!), have toiletries and slipper provided, nice warm heater, close driving range to castle Combe, Lacock, Stonehenge, bath and cheddar gorge (1 hour max). Superb free breakfast (still dreaming about it), excellent dinner (forget going anywhere else, this is the place for food and you won't be sorry), service is good (they remember what you like to drink or eat from precious night), good crowd and atmosphere even in rainy October. (Make sure you make reservations). Good free parking!

CONS: we ordered Kings size bed but gave us double size/queen (slightly uncomfortable), but they did charged us less than we booked (must be at full capacity. So make sure you clarify at booking). Could have use a stronger water pressure or a removable shower head. Air ventilation is less than ideal, so it gets stuffy after shower, you'll have to open windows to air it out! A horrible car engineering shop just right across that completely ruined the setting! (Not OHH's fault, I know) but I wish someone would get rid of it or redecorated it, not a good sight to see while having breakfast near fireplace.

Definitely worth the money, can't wait to go back! Thanks for a memorable trip!

We recently stayed at the Old House at Home when attending a wedding at nearby Grittleton House. I would recommend this hotel if you are attending a wedding or an event nearby rather than a location for a weekend away. Our room was very nice and clean but smelt quite strongly of chemicals in the bathroom - i presume this was from the cleaning. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The towels in the bathroom are very small so i maybe would consider having slightly larger ones available. A nice girl showed us to our room and was very friendly. In fact all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a quick bite to eat that evening and the food was really very good although service slightly slow considering there was only one other table. If you are looking for somewhere to stay when attending an event or wedding I would recommend. However it is not really suited for a weekend destination hotel. Also we paid £130 for the room which I think was too high (I would think the room was for in the £100 price range).
